Human Resources Generalist
Position Type: Full Time, Exempt
Hybrid Flexible (2-3 days onsite)
Location: Los Angeles
Salary Range: $79,000.00 - $131,000.00 annually*

The Human Resources Generalist is responsible for managing and resolving employee relations issues within the organization. The HR Generalist conducts investigations, provides guidance to managers and employees, and ensures compliance with company policies and employment laws. The HR Generalist assists employees with Leave of Absence administration and needs for accommodations. The HR Generalist reports to the Director of Human Resources and works closely with HR, management and counsel as needed to foster a positive work environment and address any concerns that may arise.
JOB FUNCTIONS
Employee Relations
Consults and advises employees and leaders on compliance with employment-related programs, policies and procedures, employment laws, employee relations matters, conflict resolutions, disciplinary processes and terminations.
Conducts thorough and timely investigations into employee complaints and allegations of violations of employment policies. Collaborates with HR management, leaders, attorneys, and employees to ensure that investigations and disciplinary processes are handled in a fair, timely manner consistent with Firm policies.
Maintains accurate and confidential records of employee relations cases.
Provides coaching and guidance to managers and employees regarding employee relations issues, investigations and managing performance.
Administers standardized employee performance review programs including probationary reviews and annual performance evaluations.
Collaborates with HR and management to address and resolve employee concerns.
Assesses best practices for investigations and performance management for implementation as agreed with HR leadership. Develops and implements employee relations programs and initiatives.
Employee Welfare
Uses independent judgement to administer leaves of absence, medical accommodations and workers' compensation claims in accordance with all applicable regulations including ADA, COBRA, EEO, ERISA, FMLA/CFRA, HIPAA, ACA, Social Security, Workers Compensation, and other applicable federal and California or District of Columbia codes and disability programs, and other relevant regulations.
Consults and collaborates with other Benefits team members and Payroll to ensure flawless administration of benefits and payroll for employees throughout their leave, accommodation or workers' compensation claim as needed.
Proactively liaises with third parties such as insurance and health and wellness service providers as needed to maintain an excellent standard of service delivery to employees needing a leave, accommodation or filing a workers' compensation claim.
Maintains proactive communication with management and HR leadership on status of all leave, accommodation, workers' compensation or other welfare concerns. Collaborates with counsel as needed.
Maintains professional knowledge of relevant regulations and practices; assesses protocols and best practices in administering leaves, accommodations or workers' compensation claims and makes recommendations to HR leadership for implementation.

MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS
1. Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
2. Minimum of 5 years in employee relations/investigations.
3. Experience consulting/advising stakeholders on employment law principles such as prohibited harassment, violence prevention, privacy and other relevant regulations, and investigations.
4. Experience in performance management and advising on performance issues.
5. Demonstrated understanding of ADA, COBRA, EEO, ERISA, FMLA/CFRA, HIPAA, ACA, Social Security, Workers Compensation, applicable federal and California state codes and disability programs, and other relevant regulations.
6. Ability to establish cross-functional relationships at all levels.
7. Ability to convey opinions and recommendations in both spoken and written communications.
8. Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality.
9. Excellent problem solving skills, with the ability to organize and analyze sometimes conflicting data.
10. Excellent project management and organizational skills.
11. Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
12. Experience with Workday preferred.
13. Some experience in benefits administration preferred.
14. Law firm experience preferred.
