The HR & Safety Manager will also support general HR functions, ensuring compliance with labor laws and fostering a positive workplace culture.
Key Responsibilities:
Safety Management:
- Develop, implement, and monitor comprehensive safety programs and policies to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Conduct regular safety audits, risk assessments, and incident investigations to identify potential hazards and recommend corrective actions.
- Lead safety training initiatives for employees at all levels, ensuring understanding and adherence to safety protocols.
- Manage workers' compensation claims, working closely with insurance providers and healthcare professionals.
- Coordinate emergency response planning and drills, ensuring preparedness for potential incidents.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date safety records and documentation.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for regulatory agencies and inspectors.
Human Resources:
- Support the recruitment and onboarding process, ensuring new hires are properly oriented and trained in safety procedures.
- Administer employee relations programs, addressing issues and conflicts in a fair and consistent manner.
- Oversee performance management processes, including goal setting, evaluations, and professional development plans.
- Ensure compliance with labor laws and company policies, providing guidance and support to management and employees.
- Assist in the development and implementation of HR policies and procedures.
- Manage employee benefits programs and answer related queries.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Occupational Health and Safety, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role within manufacturing.
- In-depth knowledge of safety regulations and best practices.
- Strong understanding of HR principles and labor laws.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proven ability to lead safety training and initiatives.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Certification in safety management (e.g., OSHA, CSP) is preferred.
