SUMMARY:

ORGANIZATIONAL OVERVIEW:

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Terminal Operations Manager will play a critical role performing a variety of complex tasks associated with the safe and efficient operation of the airport terminal complex and related landside facilities. The preferred candidate will possess considerable experience in air carrier operations, with demonstrated excellence in leadership and customer service, with confident decision-making skills, in a fast-paced operating environment. Requires high-energy, with a collaborative approach to solving complex problems. May require occasional evening and weekend shiftwork.

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES / ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Oversees the day-to-day terminal activities including but not limited to:
  • Develop and implement terminal operating policies and procedures, updating as required.
  • In coordination with landside staff, identify and anticipate operational, safety and security concerns by inspecting terminal facilities, generating work orders, while ensuring full resolution to all identified discrepancies.
  • Serve as initial airport point of contact (POC) for all daily air carrier operational matters, escalating matters to the executive team as required.
  • Coordinate usage of common-use terminal facilities including air carrier ramp, baggage claim, and deicing pad/collection system.
  • Assist with the development of the Master Gate Schedule (MGS) and any updates thereto.
  • Distribute daily gate assignments to local air carrier ground handling providers.
  • Adjust gate and aircraft parking/RON assignments in real-time, based on contributing factors including, but not limited, to air carrier scheduling priority, flight load factors, passenger flows, holding space limitations, required aircraft repositioning, weather, or other factors contributing to irregular operations.
  • Confirm accuracy of flight information displays (FIDS) and coordinate with internal departments to correct any identified discrepancies, ensuring information is manually updated as required.
  • Assist with identifying and implementing best practices for gate scheduling processes and procedures.
  • Identify and document air carrier and tenant non-compliance with airport operating rules and agreements.
  • Monitor terminal occupancy to ensure compliance with local fire code and other public safety requirements.
  • Anticipate and communicate the need to activate operational contingency plans based on air carrier flight schedules and current terminal occupancy.
  • Foster a culture of exceptional customer service, ensuring passengers and visitors have a positive travel experience.
  • In coordination with the landside manager, serve as airport liaison for landside operational matters with airport tenants, service providers, and stakeholders, including TSA, and Federal, State, and Local law enforcement.
  • Lead customer service efforts, including but not limited to lost and found, and the Sunflower Hidden Disabilities Program/HVN Cares Program.
  • Assist in the collection of customer satisfaction survey data.
  • Coordinate restocking and inventory of airport vending merchandise.
  • Supports the Airport Security Coordinator to ensure the airport meets all 49 CFR 1542 requirements
  • Attend and contribute to weekly meetings with airport management, providing routine reports regarding terminal operations and related activities.
  • Train, schedule, and assign work to terminal operations staff.
  • Other duties as assigned.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's Degree preferred. Associates degree considered with direct aviation and 3 years supervisory experience.

  • Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to interface effectively with airport stakeholders and public in a professional manner.

Previous experience in terminal or airline management, with customer service functions highly preferred.
  • Previous experience and/or capability of becoming fully qualified to perform job functions associated with TSR 1542 regulatory compliance.
  • Must be able to pass and maintain security clearance requirements and all required drug tests.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license suitable for the operation of all administration airport vehicles.
