Graduate science or engineering degree from an accredited academic institution
Experience with conceptual, multidisciplinary design and analysis of flight vehicles
Experience in modeling, simulation, and analysis of power and thermal subsystems and/or turbine engines
Experience with specific analysis tools, such as
-Engineering Sketch Pad (ESP)
-CBAero -Cart3D -QuickShot (or other trajectory optimization code)
-Manta (or other high-speed propulsion analysis code)
-Mass estimating relations (MERs)
-Sentry (or other thermal analysis code)
Experience in computational and/or experimental research and development specific to high-speed vehicles
Experience with Linux-based operating systems
Experience working with/within the DoD research and development community
Experience working with a software development team in a research and development environment Current (or previous) security clearance

- Collaborates with other members of the conceptual, multidisciplinary design and analysis team to imagine, model, simulate, and assess the performance of high-speed systems
- Considers and analyzes the coupled effects of configuration, aerothermodynamics, propulsion, mass estimation, power, and trajectory in the context of system-level performance
- Contributes subject matter expertise and experience in power and thermal subsystems and/or turbine engine analysis to augment existing team competencies
- Performs technology and configuration trades to inform requirements development and steer future AFRL technology investments
- Summarizes analysis products and communicates (in writing and verbally) conclusions, insights, and recommendations to internal and external stakeholders, at a level appropriate for the consumer/audience
- Proactively identifies gaps in knowledge or understanding, prioritizes technical growth, demonstrates resourcefulness in seeking learning opportunities, and quickly applies and shares new skills
- Develops, implements, and directs contracted and in-house efforts to research and develop novel high-speed vehicle design and analysis capabilities to improve fidelity and/or efficiency of the conceptual design process
- Collaborates with other members of the Design and Analysis Section to develop integrated, digital products that are supported by physics-based modeling and driven by operational and military utility analyses
- Collaborates with cross-disciplinary teams from government, industry, and academia to develop road-maps in support of technology portfolio development

Required Qualifications
- US Citizenship Required
- Must possess a professional science or engineering degree from an accredited academic institution
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret US Government security clearance
- Males must be registered for Selective Service (see www.sss.gov)
- Working (Practitioner-level) knowledge of Python (or other object-oriented) programming language
- This position is an Acquisition Professional Development Program (APDP) position requiring Level/Tier 2 (Practitioner)
- Non-Critical certification in Engineering and Technical Management (ETM). The selectee will have 24 months to meet APDP requirements or a waiver must be obtained.
- Applicants for this position must list any acquisition certifications and status as an acquisition corps member in their resume.
