Job Title: Associate Director of Nursing
Job Specialty: Nursing Administration
Job Duration: 13 weeks
Shift: Nights, 12:00 AM - 8:15 AM, 5 days a week with alternating weekends
Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours per week
Experience: Minimum of three years of nursing experience, including previous supervisory experience
License: Current license to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse in New York State
Certifications: Master's Degree in Nursing is required
Must-Have: Experience with Joint Commission Readiness, acute care, and previous ADON experience
Job Description:
- Assumes shift responsibility for the overall assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care on the unit.
- Promotes the mission, vision, and values of the nursing service and hospital.
- Engages in strategic planning, clinical management, patient care, budgeting, financial management, and quality management on the unit.
- Fosters a collaborative and respectful environment with physician colleagues, nurses, and other healthcare team members.
- Maintains current knowledge of and ensures compliance with all regulatory and professional standards of care.
- Develops quality/performance improvement programs and implements new standards.
- Prepares and monitors personnel, supply, and equipment budgets in collaboration with staff and support department directors.
- Develops long-term unit staffing schedules and ensures adequate daily coverage.
- Collaborates with the Chief Nursing Officer to establish nursing care standards and evaluates staff compliance.
- Facilitates effective provision of support services essential to patient care.
- Participates in the overall planning process for the service and is responsible for the unit's planning process.
- Educates and evaluates staff on new and existing department procedures and systems.
- Develops plans for delivery of nursing care within the assigned area.
- Engages with findings from patient and staff satisfaction surveys to establish customer service, recruitment, and retention agendas.
Candidates must have strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate in English both verbally and in writing. Physical demands include standing, walking, sitting, talking, hearing, bending, and some repetitive motions.
