Job Title: Associate Director of Nursing

Must-Have: Joint Commission Readiness experience, ADON experience, acute care experience, Master's degree in Nursing
Job Description:
- Assume responsibility for the overall assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care on the unit during off-shift weekend/holiday periods.
- Carry out the mission, vision, and values of the Nursing Service, focusing on strategic planning, clinical management, patient care, budgeting, financial management, and quality management within the unit.
- Promote service standards and create a patient-focused, caring environment while addressing individual patient needs.
- Foster a collaborative and respectful environment with physician colleagues, nurses, and other healthcare team members.
- Maintain current knowledge of and ensure compliance with all regulatory and professional standards of care, including CMS, IHI, and CAP.
- Develop quality/performance improvement programs, instruct staff, and implement new and improved standards using creativity and results from tracer methodology tools.
- Develop, prepare, and monitor the personnel, supply, and equipment budgets in collaboration with staff and support department directors.
- Establish long-term staffing schedules and ensure daily coverage according to staffing needs.
- Develop measures to monitor unit operational performance metrics, including agency and added costs.
- Collaborate with the CNO to establish nursing care standards and evaluate staff compliance, facilitating effective support services essential to patient care.
- Maintain a safe and caring environment for patients conducive to positive health teaching and maintenance; meet patient and family expectations of culturally sensitive care.
- Participate in the overall and unit-specific planning processes for the service.
- Use findings from patient and staff satisfaction surveys to establish unit-based customer services, recruitment, and retention agendas.
- Develop a plan for the delivery of nursing care within the assigned area of responsibility.
- Educate and evaluate staff on new and existing department procedures and systems and provide opportunities for growth and development.
Skills:
- Excellent communication skills in English, both verbally and in writing.
- Exceptional creative skills, generating ideas to improve programs, services, and processes impacting the role and department.
- Ability to perform physical demands, including standing, walking, sitting, talking, hearing, bending, and occasional repetitive motions, with reasonable accommodations for individuals with disabilities.
