We are seeking an Industrial Analytics Engineer to join the team in Valdosta, GA

Status of hire: Full time/exempt

Industry: glass container manufacturing

Reports to: VP of Operations

Responsibilities:

This position will assist in devising efficient systems that integrate workers, machines, materials, information, and energy to make a product or provide a service and duties including but not limited to: Review production schedules, engineering specifications, process flows, and other information to understand methods that are applied and activities that take place in manufacturing and services. Figure out how to manufacture parts or products, or deliver services, with maximum efficiency. Develop management control systems to make financial planning and cost analysis more efficient. Enact quality control procedures to resolve production problems or minimize costs. Design control systems to coordinate activities and production planning in order to ensure that products meet quality standards. Report findings from the production floor to management to take critical business decisions.
  • Evaluate current manufacturing practices and identify those needing improvement.
  • Manage production schedules and coordinate services to maximize productivity and obtain the customer requirements.
  • Enforce quality control to reduce waste.
  • Improve the efficiency of each production process based on data analysis
  • Identify procedures or tools to improve productivity.
  • Implement 5S and Lean techniques like DMAIC, Just-In-Time, Root cause analysis while completing duties like designing new machines and tools, optimizing workflow, finding ways to reduce costs, following work standards, organizing employee training, and reaching budget objectives.
  • Develop standard operating procedures (SOPs) and line balancing for productivity.
  • Identify manufacturing cost reductions and provide ROI justifications for change.
  • Optimize machining processes and create Bill of Materials (BOMs) to reach product quality, efficiency, and process repeatability.
  • Execute LEAN manufacturing techniques and design.
  • Optimize workflow and introduce cost-effective automation for productivity and safety advantages.
  • Schedule usage of production materials to ensure optimal production.
  • Plan production control activities to improve routine while maintaining high quality, timely delivery and cost-effectiveness.
  • Ensure the working space is properly maintained for optimal performance.
  • Monitor material supply flow and identify any shortages or bottlenecks
  • Address issues regarding quality and production
  • Produce reports based on findings and performance of production (Daily Production Report)
  • Manage deadlines based on project expectations
  • Assist purchasing unit in coordinating and planning supplier deliveries.
  • Perform inventory management according to company policies
  • Assist Sales unit in coordinating and planning customer orders and deliveries
  • Identify delivery exceptions and provide alternative solutions.
  • Develop process improvements for inventory, manufacturing, and production control systems
  • Evaluate production control activities to ensure that final product meets customer specifications
  • Plan equipment, materials and manpower requirements to meet production schedule.
  • Support management with risk assessments and mitigation activities.
  • Maintain an effective working relationship within functional area and with other departments ensuring effective and timely communication to resolve issues and create new solutions
  • Provide problem-solving leadership on technical and quality matters
  • Maintain administrative records and activities
  • Help create a dynamic, results-oriented and fulfilling company culture based on teamwork

Requirements:
  • Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering or an equivalent degree
  • Lean Six Sigma Black Belt, preferred
  • Glass experience preferred
  • Knowledge of the methods and quality standards for glass container making
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to thrive in a fast paced and demanding position.
  • Ability to analyze complex data and concisely present actionable intelligence.
  • Must be organized and adaptable in a rapidly changing environment.

  • Must be able to recognize container defects and comprehend how the IS Machine creates defects.
  • Must be technically inclined and have knowledge of the workings of an IS Machine.
  • Experience in reporting tools like Power BI


Physical Requirements:
  • Must be able to traverse steps without assistance.
  • Must be able to verbally communicate in potentially loud environments
  • Must be able to lift 30 lbs unassisted.
  • Vision: Must be able to make visual recognition of the working environment.
  • Environment: Exposures encountered such as: hazardous materials, loud noise, and extreme heat.
  • Hearing: Must be able to hear team members, alarms, mechanical sounds, and sounds of personnel distress
  • Essential physical requirements such as climbing, bending, reaching, standing, stooping or typing.
  • Standing and walking throughout a 12-hour shift.
