About the role:
  • As the Indigenous Relations Project Manager, you'll work within our Sustainability Team and your primary responsibility will be to lead, develop, manage, and implement projects with Indigenous Nations that maintain and strengthen relationships with Indigenous led organizations and Indigenous communities.

Within the role, you'll lead a brand-new program along with building the systems from the ground up.
  • As part of this role, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining meaningful, trusted relationships with Indigenous communities and organizations.
  • Work closely with the Director to build relations and follow through with the implementation of business opportunities supporting both the interests of the Nations and Drax.
  • The role will help to implement cultural awareness throughout the Company. The role will implement activities and apply for Drax to gain Certification of Progressive Aboriginal Relations for from the Canadian Council for Aboriginal Business, then to maintain the certification.
  • Demonstrate ability to develop and maintain relationships, strategic planning, and project management skills
  • Build and support the execution of Indigenous knowledge through Drax.

Who we're looking for

To be successful in this role you'll need to execute strong communication skills at all levels of the organization, with a passion for sustainability, and a solid understanding of sustainable forest management.

You'll need a degree in First Nations Studies, Public Administration, political science, business development, land and resource management, forestry, law, anthropology or related discipline or equivalent.

You must have solid leadership experience in the field of Indigenous community or a government sector. Along with years of Indigenous relations experience with communities in British Columbia and the ability to engage and build relationships with Indigenous communities,

Additionally, experience working with government, civil society and non-profit sector including public interface and community development

Furthermore, project and program management experience, including planning, development, implementation and evaluation and ability to be agile and adapt quickly and effectively.
