Job Summary: The Indirect Tax Manager oversees compliance, reporting, and strategy for sales tax, use tax, personal
property tax, and other indirect taxes. This role ensures accurate tax calculation, filing, and remittance
while managing audits, identifying tax risks, and optimizing tax processes.
Travel: Less than 10%
Responsibilities
Essential Functions:
Oversee the preparation, review, and filing of sales tax, use tax, personal property tax, and other indirect tax returns across multiple jurisdictions in conjunction with external service providers. Develop and implement indirect tax compliance processes to ensure timely and accurate reporting. Research and interpret state and local tax regulations to ensure compliance and minimize tax risks. Lead indirect tax audits and inquiries, including data gathering, analysis, and communication with tax authorities. Maintain and improve tax determination systems, ensuring proper application of tax rates on transactions. Partner with finance, accounting, and operations teams to provide guidance on indirect tax issues. Monitor changes in tax laws and regulations, assessing their impact on the organization and implementing necessary updates. Ensure accurate taxability determination for products and services across jurisdictions. Oversee exemption certificate management, ensuring proper documentation and compliance. Manage tax automation tools and technology, optimizing workflows and improving reporting accuracy. Advise senior leadership on indirect tax risks, planning opportunities, and process improvements. Contribute to strategic planning, budgeting, and procedural changes related to indirect taxes. Perform additional duties as assigned within the nature and level of work.

Essential Functions:
Qualifications
Required Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, taxation, finance, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or equivalent certification preferred.
- Six years of experience in indirect tax compliance, consulting, or industry taxation.
- Experience with multi-jurisdictional sales tax and use tax reporting.
- Strong knowledge of tax automation tools (i.e. Vertex, Avalara, ONESOURCE).
- Advanced Excel skills with experience handling large datasets.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
