The Lead Developer is responsible for the integration and implementation of manufacturing controls software solutions to support Sherwin William's operations. The Manufacturing Operation Technology group creates innovative software that blends real-time machine information with business data to create SCADA systems that enable factories to better control their manufacturing process. Working as part of the Industrial Controls Software team, the Lead Developer also interacts with business stakeholders and collaborates with technical staff across disciplines such as Controls Engineering, Process Engineering, and Quality. This position's project activities support innovative solutions to increase efficiencies at factories using high performance HMI concepts, digitized recipe control, and automated dashboards.
The Lead Developer will have a core focus on the Industry 4.0 and digital transformation, including a commitment to the User Experience (UX) that promotes efficiency, usability, and satisfaction. This role is responsible for solutions designed to be deployed and leveraged across manufacturing sites throughout North America and Europe with potential to extend to other global regions. This individual will assist in design and implementation of IIoT technologies and Operational Technologies using best practices of modern data architectures.
Position requirements include timely completion of quarterly project assignments, the ability to support large projects, and perform as an effective team member that can work independently. The Lead Developer should also manage communications between plants and management regarding project details.
Essential Functions
Strategy & Planning
Perform software development lifecycle activities.
Collaborate with business analysts, business users and other developers in conceptualization and development of new technical specifications for IT governance projects.
Evaluate requirements and create efficient technical integration designs.
nalyze, evaluate, and support impact of Inductive Automation's Ignition release upgrades in existing integrations.
dhere to and support the use of SW standards for code development and code promotion.
Acquisition & Deployment
Support new acquisition projects and help with deployment of Ignition software.
Create and resolve service requests in collaboration with engineering, business partners and other Manufacturing Operation Technology teams.
Gather business requirements and work with functional knowledge holders.
Operational Management
Create process flows and functional/technical design specifications from business requirements.
Provide customer support for business-critical applications.
Partner with business analysts and application super users to successfully complete assigned projects.
bility to collaborate and interact with users on the plant floor. Walk the plant floor and understand the manufacturing processes at Sherwin facilities.
Incidental Functions
Comfortable working in manufacturing environment a must.
Work on plant floor as required.
Participate in 24/7 on call rotation support program in partnership with Controls Engineering.
ttend management meetings on behalf of team.
Travel 20% as required (domestic and/or international).
Work outside the standard office 7.5-hour workday as required.
Position Requirements
Formal Education & Certification
Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in related field or equivalent experience.
Required Skills & Experience
10+ years IT or Controls Engineering experience.
8+ yrs Experience working on Software Development lifecycle.
Experience with SQL or Python.
Experience with Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) or Industrial Controls Systems (ICS)
4+ years of Inductive Automation Ignition experience
