The Automation Engineer will apply advanced and diverse engineering principles for the design and implementation of new and modifications of existing automation systems in Drug Product manufacturing areas. Areas of support include parenteral filling, oral dosage manufacturing, automatic vision systems, assembly of devices and packaging areas. The candidate will be able to develop, organize, analyze and present interpretation of results for operational issues or engineering projects of significant scope and complexity.

Industrial Engineer Job Responsibilities:
  • Monitors operations with an eye toward improving productivity and efficiency.
  • Designs efficient production processes and workflows.
  • Ensures that processes are designed to ensure that products meet quality standards.
  • Reduces waste and addresses production issues.
  • Reviews production schedules, processes, and specifications.
  • Evaluates data to implement technological improvements in production processes.
  • Implements controls to monitor costs and minimize production issues.
  • Identifies potential locations and determines facility design.
  • Works with other departments to develop design and production standards.
  • Prepares inventory analysis and procurement purchase orders to address production needs.
  • Designs facility layout and personnel requirements in relation to production operations.
  • Helps to develop instruction manuals for production personnel.
  • Hires, trains, and oversees production personnel.
  • Ensures that work processes are safe and addresses safety issues and concerns.
  • Generates process documentation and reports.
  • Works with technical writers to prepare client and customer proposals.
Industrial Engineer Skills and Qualifications:
  • Black Belt Certified
  • Knowledge of production machinery, processes, and standards in the field or industry
  • Understanding of lean manufacturing and supply-chain management
  • Familiarity with Statistical Process Control (SPC) and Just In Time (JIT) strategizing
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Data analytics skills and experience
  • Attention to detail
  • Understanding of ergonomics
  • Project management skills
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Organizational, planning, and documentation skills
  • Adept at using presentation software and presenting complex information to non-technical management personnel and other stakeholders
  • Ability to work on multiple projects in various stages simultaneously
  • Past use of Agile/Scrum or similar collaborative tools a plus
  • Experience using computer-aided design (CAD) platforms
  • Experience using System Applications and Products (SAP) software

Industrial Engineer Education, Experience, & Licensing Requirements:
  • BS in industrial engineering or related field such as manufacturing or mechanical engineering, required
  • 2-3 years relevant work experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Master's degree in engineering a plus
