The Technical Operations Division of the 711th Human Performance Wing within the Air Force Research Laboratory (711HPW/OET) is looking for an experienced Industrial Hygienist. The OETP Section needs to fill the DR-0690-02 position.

Position Duties include; but are not limited to:
  • Defines capabilities-based requirements, recommends prioritizations and provides roadmaps for data science efforts within OET
  • Develops BusinessObjects reports, dashboards/visualizations, advanced analysis processing, and AI/ML tools
  • Develops advanced visualizations/dashboards
  • Authors and contribute to programming scripts (e.g. Python, R) to process and unify data sets
  • Delivers data integration between multiple systems such as DOEHRS-IH, ASIMS, AFSAS, ESOH-MIS, and others, including recommended system changes to support data science objectives
  • Implements and develops AI/ML tools
  • Provides analysis of specific data sets upon request of internal and external customers

  • Provides technical guidance and on the job training to individual team members and reviews work to ensure it is adequate.
  • Advises supervisor on contribution, performance, progress, and training needs of team members.
  • Oversees technical quality and accuracy of consultation mission.
  • Serves as lead technical expert in industrial hygiene/occupational health for the Air Force Occupational Health Medicine Program with responsibility for conducting comprehensive industrial hygiene/occupational health consultations, special studies and as the Division expert for AQ/AC for Division data/information and expertise in applicable databases.
  • Drafts, revises, and publishes DOEHRS guidance.
  • Proactively identifies gaps and designs solutions from world-wide data collection efforts. AF liaison for DoD DOEHRS and ILER working groups.
  • Advisor to AFMRA on DOEHRS-IH issues, needs, and priorities.
  • Collaborates with DHA, and Air Staff, on DOEHRS development matters to identify and track major programmatic shortcomings.
  • Prioritizes DOEHRS improvement requests for enhanced functionality.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year or 52 weeks of specialized experience at the next lower grade in the Federal service or equivalent in an alternate pay system.

Desired Qualifications

  • Demonstrate a minimum of 10 years of experience conducting Health Risk Assessments and managing/implementing Occupational and Environmental Health Programs in the Department of Defense
  • Demonstrate a minimum of 5 years of comprehensive experience using DOEHRS-IH and Business Objects to conduct and document OEH health risk assessments
  • Demonstrate strong data analytical skills and experience using related software such as Microsoft Excel, Tableau, Python, Power BI, Qlik, or other similar tools to identify, interpret, analyze, and convey OEH data and program performance
  • Demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills appropriate for authoring and conveying new and evolving technical requirements and design recommendations to system program managers, developers, data scientists, and senior leaders
  • Demonstrate work experience directly supporting MAJCOM, HAF, or DoD OEH risk assessments as a member of a MAJCOM, COCOM, HAF/DoD staff, or a supporting center of excellence such as the Defense Centers for Public Health or the USAF School of Aerospace Medicine
  • Demonstrate familiarity with the DOEHRS IH-RAM (Risk Assessment Methodology) to improve the quality of exposure & risk assessment data
  • Demonstrate the ability to work independently and as a key contributor in collaborative environments without extensive supervision
  • Demonstrate the ability to manage projects to ensure all phases are completed expertly and in a timely manner
  • Demonstrate the ability to utilize knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA) for guiding, training, and assisting other team members
