POSITION SUMMARY:

The Industrial Safety Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and improving processes and systems to reduce safety-related risks by enhancing workplace safety and ensuring compliance with safety regulations. This role is critical to fostering a culture of safety and continuous improvement within the SENS R&D and manufacturing environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, ANSI, NFPA, EIA and other relevant safety standards.
  • Keep up to date with changes in safety regulations and industry best practices.
  • Participate in internal and external safety audits.
  • Develop and implement safety programs tailored to SENS development and industrial operations.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Customer Service, and Production teams to integrate safety into design, production, and field service processes.
  • Create and maintain safety documentation, including policies, procedures, manuals and others.
  • Chair company-wide cross-functional Safety Committee.
  • Develop and implement a safety training program.
  • Provide training and education to SENS employees and visitors on safety protocols and practices.
  • Foster a culture of safety awareness and responsibility at all organizational levels.
  • Conduct detailed hazard analyses of equipment, processes, and facilities to identify and prioritize safety risks and take actions to proactively prevent incidences and near-misses.
  • Use a quantified risk prioritization strategy such as Risk Priority Number (RPN) to guide next steps.
  • Evaluate new product and manufacturing equipment designs for safety compliance and risks before use and/or implementation in production or in the field.
  • Assist cross-functional teams to investigate safety incidents and near-misses; and determine root causes to implement corrective actions to preclude recurrence.
  • Analyze data to track safety performance metrics and identify trends or high-risk behaviors.
  • Develop processes and systems for safety risk management reporting, records, and improvement.
  • Recommend and implement continuous improvement projects to minimize safety-related risks.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Strong knowledge of safety regulations, standards, and risk assessment methodologies.
  • Proficiency in safety analysis tools and software.
  • Teamwork orientation.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving and communication skills (written and verbal).

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Safety Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • In-depth knowledge of health and safety regulations and standards.
  • Certifications such as CSP (Certified Safety Professional) highly desirable.
  • 4-6 years of experience in industrial safety engineering, preferably in an electro-mechanical manufacturing environment or within the energy industry.
  • Proficiency in EH&S software tools and reporting systems.

WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, heat, and moving machinery.
  • Occasionally required to stand, walk, and lift or move up to 40 pounds.

BASE COMPENSATION: $85,000 - $96,000 is the projected range base salary for this role depending on the candidate's overall qualifications and experience. You may also be eligible to receive a bonus and benefits.
