The Information Systems Manager over the Core Network Operations Branch will be responsible to ensure 24/7network availability. Responsibilities include not only the health of the network but network security,project management, network design, cloud strategies, team management and proactive support. Skills and Expectations include, but are not limited to:
  • Team leadership: Ability to manage multiple network teams, including firewall, CORE, MAN, WAN, and wireless.Manage productivity through automation, collaboration through communication, ownership, and accountability,morale through employee satisfaction and engagement, and skill development through cross training and formaltraining opportunities.
  • Project management experience: Proven track record in managing complex projects involving multiple vendorsand teams.
  • Strong communication skills: Demonstrated by clear and effective interactions through verbal, written, andenterprise tools, with team members, vendors, other branches, and customers.
  • Team building: Ability to foster a collaborative and cohesive team environment.
  • Training and development: Ability to manage training and cross training to avoid any single points offailure and create technical growth for staff.
  • Network security: Understanding of network security best practices, including vulnerability assessment,intrusion detection, and incident response.
  • Technical knowledge: Knowledge of network architectures, layers, and technologies (routers, switches,firewalls).
  • Problem-solving skills: Proven ability to diagnose and resolve complex network issues.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
  • Team Management: Manage multiple network teams, including firewall, core, man, WAN, and wireless. Manageproductivity through automation, collaboration through communication, ownership, and accountability, moralethrough employee satisfaction and engagement, and skill development through cross training and formal trainingopportunities.
  • Oversee Project Management: Lead and coordinate project management efforts, assigning technical subjectmatter experts as necessary.
  • Network Architecture: Develop and implement network design strategies and roadmaps.
  • Security Collaboration: Partner with security teams to maintain and enhance network security.
  • Cloud Strategy: Develop a growth strategy for our cloud infrastructure.
  • Operational Efficiency: Ensure the Network Operations Branch has the necessary tools and resources foreffective network management.
  • Proactive Support: Prioritize proactive project management and customer support.
  • 24/7 Availability: Oversee on-call processes and ensure 24/7 network availability.


Minimum Requirements

EDUCATION:Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree OR a graduate of a college or university with an associate's degree in IT or related field OR certification in an IT related field.

EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS:Five years of professional experience in computer programming, systems analysis, systems support, or computer operating systems.

Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE:A master's degree in computer science will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.

Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION:Two years of additional experience in computer programming, systems analysis, computer operations, business or public administration, statistics, research, or a related field will substitute for the education requirement.

Probationary Period

This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
