Description
Provides technical and user support for all citywide information technology systems: computers, mobile devices, on site servers, network security/infrastructure, telephone systems, audio/visual equipment, door access and document imaging.

Examples of Duties

  • Assist with IT systems administration, including user accounts and permissions, configuring and maintaining hardware and software.
  • Provides technical assistance to end users by responding to IT inquiries and perform troubleshooting.
  • Monitors PC and IT systems performance, troubleshoots IT systems problems including server, network devices, printers, and other peripherals.
  • Assist with IT efforts among departments to identify, prioritize, and communicate computer support needs, including research, troubleshooting, training, and implementation.
  • Provide technical support for phone system operations (mobile and VOIP) and related devices.
  • Assist with the management of print services for printers.
  • Assist with the administration of city building security and access control systems.
  • Provides primary and advanced technical support for squad mobile data computers, including squad video and Body-Worn Camera (BWC) hardware and software.
  • Provides technical assistance with city-wide software applications.
  • Coordinates activities with LOGIS Network Services Support and other external resources and agencies, as appropriate.
  • Evaluates and recommends appropriate Information Technology hardware and software in consultation with the IT systems administrator.
  • Assists with the maintenance and communication of the computer user's policy, under the direction of the assistant city manager.
  • Maintains confidentiality of a wide variety of information to which the position provides access.
  • May work evenings, night and weekends as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Typical Qualifications

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
-Technical degree in information science, computer technology or related field. May substitute two years IT or related experience in lieu of degree.

-One year of experience working in a network environment, which included responsibilities such as hardware and software installation and infrastructure support and troubleshooting and providing support to users.

-Two years of experience with word processing and spreadsheet software applications in a Windows environment.

-Ability to communicate effectively and maintain positive and effective working relationships.

-Ability to provide effective customer service.
DESIRABLE TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

-Bachelor's degree in Information Science, Information Technology, or related field. ...

-Three years or more of professional experience supporting infrastructure hardware and software.

-Technical certifications in CompTIA , Microsoft, or CISCO.

-One year or more of experience supporting Windows desktop and server operating systems.

-Over one year of experience in network administration, preferably in a multiple server environment utilizing a Wide Area Network (WAN).

-Experience in supporting Microsoft 365.

-Experience in supporting IPhones and VIOP SIP telephony.

Technical Knowledge: Must have extensive knowledge of computer hardware, software, and networks, including PC's and printers. Must be able to repair, replace, install equipment, boards, cables, etc. as needed. Must be able to support both desktop and distributed systems. Must be able to keep accurate records, to assemble and organize data, and to prepare standard reports from such records.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Vacation and Sick Leave - Upon your start date, you will accrue vacation and sick leave at the rate of 12 days per year (0-5 years of completed service). This is prorated for part-time employees according to hours worked. Each full time employee must expend a minimum of 80 hours of vacation each calendar year.
Holidays - The City has 13 paid holidays per year, two of which are personal/floating holiday.
Education Benefits - Employees may be eligible for a percentage of reimbursement of tuition up to a set amount on "work-related" courses, required fees and books upon completion and receipt of a grade of "C" or "satisfactory."
Deferred Compensation - This is a voluntary plan which allows employees to place a portion of their earnings into a 457 pretax deferred investment plan. This plan is subject to IRS Rulings.
Direct Deposit - The City requires direct deposit regarding payroll checks.
Flexible Benefit Plan(FSA) - This is a voluntary plan whereby a portion of your salary may be set aside to cover estimated health care costs and dependant daycare costs. This contribution is taken from gross wages and you must expend all the money you set aside or lose it. This plan is subject to IRS Rulings.
Employee Assistance Program - The City provides an employee assistance program for employees and their family members enrolled in the City's health insurance program.
Mileage Reimbursement - Personal automobile use for authorized trips, meetings, work, etc. will be reimbursed at the rate and consistent with IRS Regulations.
