Infrastructure Analyst

Information Technology Unit, Office of the Registrar Department

Permanent Position, Category 6, Hiring Range - $87,065 - $96,952

Purpose of Position

To manage and maintain the College's on-prem and cloud infrastructure. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring the building, reliability, security, and efficiency of cloud-based systems while supporting the organization's evolving IT needs. This role involves working closely with cross-functional teams to design, implement, and optimize Infrastructure solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Azure Resource Management: Deploy, configure, and maintain Azure resources, including virtual machines, storage accounts, databases, and virtual networks. Monitor performance, ensure cost efficiency, and optimize environments using tools like Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and Application Insights.
  • Cloud Security: Implement and manage robust security controls such as Azure Security Center, Key Vault, Azure Firewall, and Azure Virtual Desktop. Enforce data encryption, access controls, anti-virus measures, and firewall configurations while adhering to cloud security best practices.
  • Backup and Disaster Recovery: Design, implement, and manage backup and disaster recovery solutions using Azure Backup, Site Recovery, and other tools to ensure business continuity.
  • Network Administration: Manage and troubleshoot LAN/WAN technologies, route tables, access control lists, firewalls, and other networking components. Maintain network hardware such as routers, switches, hubs, and UPSs while ensuring connectivity for all devices.
  • System Management: Oversee servers, including e-mail, print, and backup servers, and their operating systems and software. Perform upgrades, capacity planning, and maintenance to ensure optimal system performance.
  • Collaboration and Support: Work closely with IT teams, developers, and DevOps engineers to support cloud-based applications, multi-tier architectures, and IT infrastructure projects. Provide architectural consulting to analysts and other architects.
  • Performance Monitoring and Reporting: Set up and monitor alerts, diagnostics, and logging systems. Analyze performance data and provide actionable insights for continuous improvement.
  • Policy and Training Development: Develop and implement policies, procedures, and training plans for network resource administration, disaster recovery, and appropriate system use. Maintain network inventory and documentation.
  • Vendor and Procurement Management: Research, interact with, and negotiate contracts with vendors, outsourcers, and contractors to secure cost-effective products and services.
  • Upgrades and Maintenance: Regularly perform network and server improvements, hardware/software upgrades, backups, and recovery operations. Address emerging IT requirements effectively.
  • IT Security and Audits: Administer end-user accounts, permissions, and access rights. Conduct server and security audits to ensure compliance and mitigate risks.
  • General IT Support: Troubleshoot and resolve hardware/software issues for end-user workstations and peripheral devices. Provide ongoing support and ensure connectivity across all systems.
  • Other Responsibilities: Fulfill additional tasks and projects as assigned by the Manager of Information Technology.


Position Requirements

Formal Education & Certification
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
  • Azure Administrator Associate (AZ-104) certification or equivalent. Azure Solution Architect (AZ-305) certification is a plus.


Qualifications, Skills, and Experience
  • Proven experience as an Azure Administrator or similar role, with hands-on expertise in Azure services.
  • Proven experience in migrating on-premises servers and workloads to the Azure cloud platform.
  • Proven experience as a Cloud Administrator, System Administrator, or similar role.
  • Strong understanding of networking, virtualization, and cloud storage solutions.
  • Strong knowledge of networking concepts (VNet, NSGs, ZTNA, VPNs) and Azure networking solutions.
  • Familiarity with Azure Active Directory, RBAC, identity management, and access control policies.
  • Extensive application support experience
  • Working technical knowledge of current network hardware, protocols, and standards
  • Hands-on hardware troubleshooting experience.
  • Knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws.
  • Ability to conduct research into networking issues and products as required.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
  • Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
  • Must be available for 24/7 on-call support, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
