Responsibilities

What you'll be challenged to do:

Proven leadership, client relationships, and demonstrated technical excellence in opportunity pursuits, task management, and completion of inland port planning and design projects.

Primary Responsibilities (others may be included):

• Responsible for overall management and quality when assigned project manager.
• Assures that the project conforms to the contractual agreement the firm has made to the client.
• Assures that the project is completed within the allocated period of time and within the budget that has been assigned.
• Controls project plan by approving design, specifications, plans, and schedules changes.
• Responsible for client satisfaction.
• Assist the market sector leader and principals in the implementation of the marketing plan and business development goals established for inland ports.
• Serves as a technical specialist for the organization in the application of advanced theories, concepts, principles and processes for an assigned area of responsibility.
• Keeps abreast of new scientific methods and developments affecting the organization for the purposes of recommending changes in emphasis of programs or new programs warranted by such developments.
• Maintains project staff results by planning, monitoring, and assessing project performance.
• Mentors other employees.
• Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
• Relays company goals and direction to project team members.

Qualifications

What you bring to our firm:

• Bachelor's degree in engineering
• Minimum of 10 years of design and project management experience required
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
• Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
• Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format.
• Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or Boards of Directors.
• Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
• Demonstrates creativity, foresight and mature engineering judgment in anticipating and solving unprecedented engineering problems.
• Computer Skills - Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Office, and various engineering software systems depending on engineering discipline: AutoCAD; MicroStation/GeoPak; Open Roads, In Roads, Land Desktop, and Civil 3D.
• Certificates and Licenses - Registration as a licensed Professional Engineer.
• Actively engages multiple perspectives when solving problems, seeks to learn from peers, and encourages reciprocal learning among team members.

• The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, however, construction and field assignments can be severe (i.e. Airport noise, inside factories, construction equipment, jack hammers, etc). Position may require frequent travel.
