Job Description
Duties include care for patients affected by prematurity, respiratory distress, infectious diseases, congenital heart disease, and/or other anomalies. Clinical responsibilities include resuscitation of newborns, care of healthy newborns, day-to-day management of babies in the Special Care Nursery, and care of hospitalized children. Procedures performed include circumcisions, umbilical central lines, lumbar punctures, frenulectomies, intubations, and emergent needle decompression of pneumothorax. Responsibilities will include direct patient care, as well as opportunities for educating advanced practice providers, medical students, and Family Medicine residents. This position is solely inpatient. Hospitalists work 12-hour shifts inhouse, 24 weeks per year.
Qualifications
MD, DO, or foreign degree equivalent. Eligible for Wisconsin medical license. BE/BC in Pediatrics or in final year of ACGME-Accredited program leading to board eligibility in Pediatrics.
