Inside Account Manager

This description is intended to be illustrative of the major duties to be performed by the employee assigned to the position of Inside Account Manager. This position ensures revenue growth for the organization by meeting and exceeding the sales goals set within the organization through effective sales planning, targeting and closing new business within current customer accounts. The Inside Account Manager collaborates across the commercial organization including our external and internal sales teams, Ophthalmology sales teams, and Leadership.

This position reports to the SVP, Commercial Operations and Customer Experience. The Inside Account Manager is customer oriented and can build and maintain positive and productive relationships with both external and internal customers. This critical leadership role actively leads the inside customer interfacing team and enables the optimal customer experience while also achieving revenue targets through effective sales management and deploying a variety of coaching techniques and approaches.

$112,000 to $140,000 base annually with additional quarterly commission (based on hitting sales targets).

Essential Functions:
  • Builds, trains, coaches, and leads a team of high performing Account Representatives, ensuring achievement of sales targets through account and product prioritization, developing a plan of action for each account, and closing sales.
  • Establish and maintain a current pipeline for sales opportunities and targets for the team in the CRM system.
  • Accountable for performance management and growth of the team based on company goals for revenue and growth.
  • Understands product portfolio and relevant messaging to communicate thoroughly to team and customers.
  • Analyze sales data to identify trends, determine root cause, and use in plan of action to improve sales performance.
  • Quickly initiate and implement plan of action to sell additional portfolio products in our fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrate nimble response to continuously changing market, and plan for successfully meeting all sales goals.
  • Coach team to focus on product expansion and build a target list and weekly priorities that reflect these goals.
  • Review and analyze failed or lacking processes to effectively change the plan of action, and grow and improve.
  • Consistently coach team to be fully prepared on every call to execute sales plan, including account preparation, sales call goal setting, overcoming objections, resource utilization, and follow up plan.
  • Understand and communicate the value that our organization brings to customers.
  • Prepare annual sales plan and prepare monthly updates to ensure successful progress to the end goal.
  • Coach to and verity all CRM system sales opportunities and outbound activities with customers and leads.
  • Other job duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • Lead and manage a team of Account Representatives, providing direction, support, and development opportunities.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews, provide constructive feedback, and implement performance improvement plans as needed.
  • Provide a positive and collaborative work environment, addressing and resolving conflict promptly and fairly.

Experience and Necessary Skills:
  • Minimum 5 years' managing a large team. 5 to 10 years pharmaceutical, medical or healthcare sales experience.
  • Proven track record of successfully leading a team, must be able to speak to specifics on best practice selling skills.
  • Excellent people management skills and the ability to drive sales results; must be metric driven.
  • Results-oriented professional who is articulate and can make and meet commitments and deadlines.
  • Self-motivated and detail-oriented individual who is organized and can effectively convert data into actionable plans and results.
  • Must possess strong problem-solving skills along with well-developed written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills, along with math skills and problem-solving.
  • Demonstrated strong computer skills and experience utilizing Microsoft products, Outlook, Excel and CRM system.
  • Bachelor's degree required.
