Duties The United States Space Force (USSF) at Los Angeles Space Force Base (California) is searching for an Inspection and Compliance Specialist for SSC/IG (NH-0301-03, GS-12/13 Equivalent). Description: Lead the charge, elevate readiness, and ensure excellence! We are looking for a strategic thinker with a sharp eye for detail and a passion for driving organizations to excellence. As our Inspection and Compliance Specialist, you will take the lead in planning and executing Base-wide exercises and program inspections. You will work across multiple organizations and disciplines to shape compliance strategies, evaluate readiness, and advise senior leaders on how to improve their organizations. Ideal Candidate: Proactive, Organized, ability to management projects involving 50+ people, and the ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written). The ideal candidate has experience in Project Management as well as one or more of the following disciplines: Inspector General, Emergency Management, Operations, Civil Engineering, Security Forces, or Force Support. Key Skills and Abilities: 1. Knowledge of concepts, principles, practices, procedures, regulations, and methodology applicable to the Air Force inspection program. 2. Knowledge of the conception, planning, coordination, implementation and evaluation of Major Accident Response Exercises (MARE), Natural Disaster Response Exercises (NDRE), Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) Exercises, Anti-Terrorism/Force Protection (AT/FP) Exercises, Hazardous Materials (HAZMAT) Exercises and Mobility/Deployment/Ability to Survive and Operate (ATSO) Exercises including off-base exercises in austere locations. 3. Knowledge of military emergency services/support operations, as well as local, state, and federal emergency support and services. 4. Ability to instruct others in disaster preparedness, hazardous materials, weapons of mass destruction, ATSO, and emergency situations. 5. Ability to recognize the interrelationships of the various aspects of operating programs and skill in integrating and analyzing such information in order to evaluate overall program status. 6. Ability to gather and analyze data, determine changes and trends, draw conclusions, and devise solutions to problems. 7. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing, and to gain cooperation from others through tact, courtesy, and diplomacy. 8. Knowledge of safety and security regulations, practices, and procedures. Requirements Conditions of Employment * Must be a U.S. Citizen. * Employee must be able to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret clearance. * Required to handle and safeguard sensitive and/or classified information in accordance with regulations to reduce potential compromise. * May occasionally be required to work other than normal duty hours and/or shift work may be required which may include overtime and/or irregular hours. * PCS / relocation funding is not authorized. * Position is not eligible for telework or remote work. * Position will close in 5 business days or 75 applications (whichever comes first). * Work occasionally requires travel away from the normal duty station. * May be required to travel by military or commercial aircraft in the performance of TDY assignments. * Subject to Temporary Duty Assignment (TDY): Approximately 15 days per year. * This position has been designated for drug testing. Incumbent is subject to random urinalysis testing as a condition of employment. Drug Testing Designated Position Coding: O - Category II/Type 5 - Sensitive Info. * Incumbent must successfully complete the USAF on-scene commander's course, and FEMA's professional development series courses on exercise design and emergency management. * In accordance with 5 CFR 315.802(b), a person who is appointed to the competitive service by direct hire authority may be required to serve a probationary period. * Appropriate cold weather and safety equipment will be provided based on weather conditions. * Performs other duties as assigned.
