The Division of Adult Institution is recruiting to fill five (5) Institution Unit Supervisor positions . These positions are based out of Dodge Correctional Institution located in Waupun, WI.

Position Summary

This position is responsible for the security, treatment and general living conditions of all Persons In Our Care (PIOC) assigned to the unit. The Institution Unit Supervisor is an administrator responsible for all activities within the unit, including the coordination of all disciplines to address and monitor PIOC activities and well-being, supervision and direction of assigned unit staff, facilitation and evaluation of unit-based work assignments, monitoring, maintaining, and managing the daily unit-based services provided to PIOC. The Institution Unit Supervisor is tasked with the development, implementation and monitoring of overall institution goals and policies as part of the institution management team.

Salary Information

The starting pay is between $97593 and $113068 per year, plus excellent benefits. Pay on appointment may vary according to the applicable pay transaction provisions of the Compensation Plan and Wisconsin Administrative Code. The pay schedule/range is 81-34. A 12-month probationary period is be required.

Job Details

Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States (i.e. a citizen or national of the U.S., a lawful permanent resident, or an alien authorized to work in the U.S. without DOC sponsorship) at the time of application.

The Department of Corrections may conduct pre-employment drug screens. Any applicant who is offered employment in a position which requires a pre-employment drug screen must pass the screen as a contingency of employment.

The Department of Corrections will conduct criminal background checks on applicants prior to selection. Upon hire, all new DOC employees are subject to fingerprinting

Qualifications

Minimally qualified applicants will have training and or experience in the following:

  • Developing, implementing, and evaluating a program (such as security, treatment, clinical, social services, education, specialized programs, structured activities, etc.)
  • Participating in multi-disciplinary teams, committees, or work groups
  • Developing, implementing, monitoring and evaluating standards, policies and procedures
  • Maintaining professional working relationships with outside agencies and stakeholders to include law enforcement, courts, etc.


In addition to the above, well qualified applicant will have training or experience in the following:

  • Performing supervision or lead worker related activities (e.g. assigning, directing, and/or evaluating work; disciplinary matters, hiring, providing training/mentoring, etc.)
  • Supervising and coordinating administration of a complex multi-disciplinary security program for custody and treatment of PIOCs.
