Position Overview
The Instructional Coach, Grades 9-12 plays a critical role in supporting and developing teaching practices at Codman Academy. The Instructional Coach will work closely with high school educators to improve instructional practices, enhance student learning, and support teachers in the implementation of the school's curriculum. This position requires a highly collaborative, reflective, and resourceful individual who is committed to student achievement and instructional excellence.

Key Responsibilities
Coaching and Professional Development
- Provide individualized coaching to teachers to support their professional growth and instructional effectiveness.
- Plan and deliver professional development sessions focused on instructional strategies, curriculum implementation, classroom management, and student engagement.
- Observe classroom instruction, providing feedback to teachers based on best practices and student outcomes.
- Support teachers in the development and implementation of instructional units that are rigorous, culturally responsive, and aligned with the school's mission and curriculum.
Collaboration and Support
- Collaborate with school leadership to align instructional practices and curricular goals across all grade levels and subject areas.
- Facilitate weekly team meetings to discuss student progress, curriculum implementation, and teaching strategies.
- Work with teachers to differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of students.
- Support teacher teams in analyzing student data to identify trends, set goals, and develop action plans for improvement.
- Help implement and support the Student Support Team (SST) to ensure that students receive the appropriate level of support.
Instructional Design and Implementation
- Assist teachers in designing and planning lessons that promote critical thinking, inquiry, and a growth mindset.
- Evaluate and recommend instructional materials and resources to support teachers in delivering high-quality instruction.
- Support teachers in the integration of technology into the curriculum to enhance student engagement and learning outcomes.
- Model effective teaching practices in the classroom and provide demonstration lessons to support teacher development.
Data-Driven Decision Making
- Work with teachers to analyze student performance data to monitor progress and adjust instructional strategies.
- Provide support in the interpretation of assessment data, helping teachers understand how to use this information to adjust teaching practices.
- Support teachers in the use of formative and summative assessments to drive instructional planning and measure student progress.
School Culture and Community
- Foster a culture of collaboration, trust, and professional growth among faculty and staff.
- Encourage the development of a student-centered classroom environment that supports high expectations and academic achievement.
- Support teachers in building strong relationships with students to promote social-emotional development and academic success.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's degree in education or a related field.
- At least 3 years of successful teaching experience in Grades 9-12.
- Strong knowledge of instructional strategies, curriculum design, and assessment practices.
- Experience with data analysis and the use of data to inform instructional decisions.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with teachers and school leadership.
- Commitment to continuous professional development and staying current with educational best practices.
- Additional duties may be assigned by the supervisor.
Preferred
- Master's degree in education, instructional leadership, or a related field.
- Experience as an instructional coach or in a leadership role within a school setting.
- Familiarity with culturally responsive teaching and diverse learning needs.
- Experience working with technology tools to support teaching and learning.
- Teaching certification in a relevant subject area.
- Familiarity with EL education
