Function/Duties of Position
The Division of Pediatric Hematology-Oncology is recruiting a Nocturnist Hospitalist to cover 8-12 nights (5:00 pm to 7:15 am) per month in the Pediatric Hematology-Oncology inpatient unit. Some weekend day coverage may substitute for some nights.
The duties of this position include:
Clinical Activities (not related to teaching or research):
Assure the safe, efficient, high quality and customer oriented management of patient care to the pediatric hematology/oncology population, including but not limited to completing a comprehensive assessment of the patient's status; developing, monitoring and revising, as appropriate, an evidence-based treatment plan that addresses diagnoses, patterns of disease, risk factors, and treatment alternatives; treat many common acute and chronic health problems; interpret diagnostic tests; prescribe and manage medications and other therapies; provide health teaching with an emphasis on anticipatory guidance and risks of complications of therapy.
Scholarly Activities (research/writing, abstracts, grant supported work, presentations, etc.):
This position does not include scholarly activities.
Education (include types of teaching and types of student taught):
This position does not include education responsibilities.
Administration
This position does not include administrative responsibilities.
Required Qualifications
Current MD license for the state of Oregon and completion of pediatric residency program.

Required Qualifications
Current MD license for the state of Oregon and completion of pediatric residency program.
- Experience as a provider to the pediatric hematology-oncology population.
- Demonstrated ability to satisfy standards of performance delineated by law and associated professional practice standards, the latter set forth as an addendum to the position description.
- Ability to manage heavy workload with multiple priorities and inflexible deadlines.
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
- Proficient in the use of computing hardware and software, including personal computing equipment, electronic medical record, word processing.
- Regular and consistent attendance at work.

- The Nocturnist Hospitalist will work 8-12 nights (5:00 pm until 7:15 am) per month in the Pediatric Hematology-Oncology (PHO) inpatient unit. The shift will begin with face-to-face handoff covering all PHO hosptalized patients to the nocturnist from the daytime inpatient providers; the shift will end with brief handoff from nocturnist to daytime providers.
- Standing: On concrete, vinyl, or carpeting several hours per shift and intermittently.
- Sitting: Chair or stool continuous up to 8 hours per day and intermittently.
- Walking: Inermittently several hours per day on concrete, vinyl, and carpeting.
- Lifting: Minimal
- Bending: Minimal
- Reaching/Handling: Fine manipulation, repetitive, gross motor requiring full ROM in upper extremeties, including overhead reaching.
- Twisting: All range of motion required, intermittent periods, throughout the shift.
