Sr. Instrumentation Engineer
Pittsburgh, PA
Contract to Hire
Overtime and travel to clients and project sites required.
Hourly rate plus Medical, dental, accrued PTO etc.

Qualifications
  • BS in Engineering required; MS degree preferred.
  • 6+ years related engineering experience required.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) a plus.
  • Understanding PFD's and P&ID's.
  • Proficiency in ISA standards.
  • Commissioning process control systems.
  • Inspecting Installation of instruments.
  • Bluebeam experience preferred.
  • Preparing FEED study deliverables and cost estimates.
  • Organizational skills
  • Ability to work on multiple tasks simultaneously under time sensitive deadlines.
  • Listening, oral and written skills
  • Ability to prepare and make project-related presentations to clients.
  • Project management software such as MS Project or Primavera.
  • MS Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.).
  • Oil and Gas background preferred.

Job Summary
  • Responsible for performing mastery level, design, and analysis work as directed to support various projects.
  • Function as a part of a project team from inception through construction completion.
  • Act as a discipline lead for projects, managing internal and external resources as assigned/required.

Essential Functions
  • Works on projects with complex features.
  • Leads the design of facility I&C architecture.
  • Demonstrable success in estimating, specifying, and procuring process instrumentation.
  • Solicits and reviews bids for all manner of I&C equipment and services for industrial facility FEED and EPC stages.
  • Leads the design of industrial facility control system hardware. Prepares I&C documents such as lists, reports, specifications, test documents, and datasheets.
  • Utilizes and updates template specifications and documents to prepare deliverables.
  • Manages the preparation of and checks entire I&C drawing and specification packages for the construction of large industrial facilities.
  • Specifies process instrumentation such as pressure, temperature, flow, and level elements and transmitters, as well as control, shutdown, and relief valves.
  • Preparing instrument datasheets and installation details for PSVs, control valves, ESD / shutoff valves, regulators, process analyzer packages, fire and gas detectors, Coriolis and other styles of flowmeters, meter skid and prover packages, tank level gauges, and pressure and temperature measurement instruments.
  • Specify or perform industrial automation software development including PLC, HMI, DCS, and historian systems.
  • Designs and conducts experiments, analysis and interpret data.
  • Coordinates tasks with engineers, designers and administrative staff.
  • Plans and coordinates detailed aspects of engineering work.
  • Prepares and manages scope, budget and schedule for projects or assignments
  • Reviews complete project documents for conformity and quality assurance.
  • Assists with proposals to provide services or obtain funding for engineering projects or programs.
  • Develop new techniques and improved processes, materials, or products.
  • Interacts with PMs, clients, customers, officials, contractors and others.
  • Attend project meetings and presents specific aspects of engineering assignments.
  • Serve as discipline lead on projects, and manages the discipline work to achieve schedule, budget, scope, and quality objectives.
  • Assist upper-level management or staff as a technical specialist or advisor.
  • Routinely prepares progress and status updates for discipline work.
  • Conduct project site startup activities including process control loop checkout and troubleshooting, network performance testing and troubleshooting, and acceptance testing.
  • Communicate a sense of urgency about solving problems and getting work done.
  • Foster cross-team functionality at all organizational levels.
