Role Overview
Reporting to the Instrument and Controls (I&C) Superintendent, the successful candidate will be responsible to provide Instrumentation service and support for the operations department. Effectively coordinate and execute daily activities, as well as short and major shut downs, for the Instrumentation trade group to reinforce plant reliability while providing prompt installation, diagnosis and repair of equipment in order to achieve uptime and productivity targets at lowest possible cost in compliance with corporate principles, guidelines and safety standards.

Role Overview
Reporting to the Instrument and Controls (I&C) Superintendent, the successful candidate will be responsible to provide Instrumentation service and support for the operations department. Effectively coordinate and execute daily activities, as well as short and major shut downs, for the Instrumentation trade group to reinforce plant reliability while providing prompt installation, diagnosis and repair of equipment in order to achieve uptime and productivity targets at lowest possible cost in compliance with corporate principles, guidelines and safety standards.
Responsibilities
- Supervision of Unionized Instrumentation Trade Workers;
- Organize and coordinate job tasks;
- Oversee daily tasks, ensuring quality workmanship completed in a timely manner;
- Some planning and job prep will be required;
- Provide Troubleshooting Support for instrumentation equipment issues;
- Provide advice and guidance on new installations;
- Ensure the reliability of instrumentation and controls system equipment by achieving routine PM checks compliance targets;
- Responsible to assist in initiatives such as E&I reliability plan, valve rebuild program, etc.;
- Promote and provide a safe work place, lead monthly crew safety meetings, and support the implementation of a health and safety program;
Qualifications
- Industrial Control Technology Diploma; Instrumentation Technology Diploma; or Industrial Instrumentation certificate of qualification;
- Prefer 5 years' experience in a similar role;
- 5 years' (or more) field experience as an Industrial Instrumentation Mechanic;
- Can demonstrate strong leadership and troubleshooting skills;
- Proficient at configuring, calibrating and testing industrial instruments and valves;
- Knowledge of PLC and DCS control system infostructure;
- Knowledge of Schneider Electric PLC and Foxboro DCS would be considered an asset;
- Must be familiar with computer and various programs such as Office, CAD and CMMS systems;
- Experience working in a Unionized environment is preferred;
- Knowledge of low to medium voltage power systems, UPS and VFD's considered an asset;
- Previous pulp and paper experience considered an asset;
- Flexible and able to adjust to changing priorities.
