Summary

The Lagor laboratory is seeking an Instructor with experience in mouse physiology, lipid metabolism, and intestinal stem cell homeostasis. This individual will be responsible for performing experiments to determine how changes in cholesterol biosynthesis affect stem cell self-renewal and differentiation in the intestine. The ideal candidate will assist in teaching technical skills to trainees in the laboratory (such as technicians and graduate students) and help the PI in managing the project.

We are seeking an experienced research scientist to serve as an Instructor in the lab. This individual should be comfortable with mouse physiology related to the intestine, and proficient in intestinal organoid isolation and culture. They should also have a strong molecular biology skill set including immunoblotting, molecular cloning, quantitative PCR, and nucleic acid isolation. Scientific knowledge specific to cholesterol metabolism is highly desired.

Job Duties

  • Design and perform experiments, analyze, and interpret data, summarize results, document findings.
  • Perform mouse colony management and genotyping as needed to support the research project.
  • Assist others in the lab with experiments.
  • Write and edit papers for submission to peer reviewed journals.
  • Assist in writing and submission of regulatory protocols (i.e. IACUC and IBC) as requested by PI.
  • Write papers and submit grant proposals.
  • Present research in the department as seminar at least once per year.
  • Assist in teaching trainees in the laboratory as well as providing scientific advice on their projects.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Must have Ph.D. in biological or biomedical sciences, or closely related discipline.
  • 5 years of postdoctoral research experience.
  • Strong background in lipid metabolism or intestinal biology.
