About the Team

Reporting to the Director - Legal, the Intellectual Property Manager will form a key role in the broader RDA Legal and Commercial Team. Additionally, the Intellectual Property Manager will work closely with the Land 400 Project Team to ensure an aligned approach to deliver the Land 400 product to the customer.

About the Role

The Intellectual Property (IP) Manager is a key member of the Legal and Commercial Team. The IP Manager is responsible for managing all of RDA's IP licensing and ensuring that RDA meets its IP obligations to the Commonwealth of Australia (CoA). The role requires an excellent understanding of IP licensing and effective communication skills. The IP Manager works closely with the global group of Rheinmetall entities, suppliers forming part of the Rheinmetall supply chain and the project teams (including Land 400 Ph 2, HWC, MASS and other exciting projects).

As the Intellectual Property Manager, you can anticipate some of your day-to-day tasks to include:
  • Prepare and manage the RDA Intellectual Property register, tools and processes;
  • Catalogue and manage IP licensing and rights in accordance with Commonwealth, Rheinmetall entity and sub-contractor requirements;
  • Manage the transfer of IP rights between relevant parties to the Land 400 Phase 2 program;
  • Ensure that subcontractors comply with their contractual obligations regarding IP and confidentiality;
  • Drafting, negotiating and managing IP licenses and license obligations
  • Train and provide guidance to RDA project personnel on the IP requirements and practices;
  • Support the configuration management and engineering teams in relation to technical data licensing, storage, transfer and related contractual deliverables and obligations; and
  • Support the Legal team to analyse any change in the IP clauses of contracts.

The experience and skillset best suited to this role includes:
  • Tertiary qualifications in Business, Commerce, Law or equivalent;
  • Experience in the negotiation, drafting and management of IP Licences;
  • Knowledge and experience with ASDEFCON contracting standards and their application to IP;
  • Demonstrate strong interpersonal communication, consultation and negotiation skills;
  • Ability to travel internationally and interstate, when required; and
  • Eligibility to obtain an Australian Government Security Clearance (Australian Citizenship required).
