Introduction
The Loudoun County Sheriff's Office is seeking a professional, dedicated individual for a full-time Intelligence Manager position located in the Criminal Investigations Division.
Job Summary
Duties include but are not limited to:
Plans and organizes a comprehensive criminal intelligence program. Supervises assigned staff; provides leadership and direction to a team of intelligence staff.
Manages staff performance in accordance with county and Human Resources policies. Provides regular feedback. Completes appraisals of performance. Ensures staff adhere to all applicable policies and procedures of the department and of the county. Ensures staff is trained and certifications are current.
Coordinates and monitors the activities of the Department's intelligence and crime analysts. Ensures consistency across the agency for all intelligence.
Oversees data collection and statistical reports. Responds to requests for data and statistics from within and outside the Agency.
Develops and recommends changes to policies, procedures, and processes related to departmental intelligence information.
* Oversees data submitted to the intelligence and crime analysis databases. Ensures data submitted by the intelligence and crime analysts is consistent and accurate.
Gathers data, prepares and presents statistical reports to departmental and county leadership to brief on trends or emerging issues.
* Manages and improves programs and databases used by the analysts to ensure that technology and products are up to date.
Maintains contact with analysts nationwide through the internet and other forums to identify new trends in intelligence and crime analysis techniques, software, technologies, and tools.
Knowledge of theory, principles, practices, and methods of crime analysis.
Knowledge of research techniques and statistical analysis.
Skill in communicating, both orally and in writing, using math and statistics, and creating graphs and maps.
Skill in using computer applications, including Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD), geographical interface systems (i.e., Google Earth, Weblogis, ARCVlEW), Microsoft Office applications, and other regional applications.
Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with employees. supervisors, officials, and the general public.
Ability to maintain confidentiality.
May be required to work outside normal business hours.
Work is performed in a dynamic environment that requires sensitivity to change and responsiveness to changing goals, priorities, and needs.
Hiring salary commensurate with experience.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in related field; five (5) years of work experience in research, criminal justice, public administration, law enforcement, or related field, of which one (1) year is at a supervisory level; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must pass a VCIN/NCIC written examination and become VCIN/NCIC certified within one year of employment.
Certifications in crime analysis (such as CLEA, CCIA, or CICA) preferred.
