Job Description
The Interface Specialist is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting and optimizing the enterprise-wise suite of Blood Bank and Laboratory application interfaces (including, but not limited to) WellSky Transfusion, APBC, ImmuLINK, and BloodTrack. Additionally, the role requires troubleshooting and support of each of the aforementioned systems and their underlying technical components, e.g. database and application servers. The role reports to the Director of Systems and Programming for Blood Bank and Laboratory Systems.
Duties & Responsibilities
Minimum Qualifications
1. A Baccalaureate Degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Computer Science, Systems Engineering, applied Mathematics, Business Administration, Economics/Statistics, Telecommunications, Data Communications, or a related field of study; and
2. Five (5) years of progressive, responsible experience in the field of data processing, computer systems and applications.
Operations Specialty requires supervisory experience (5 years).
Network Services requires a telecommunications background and experience.
3. Broad knowledge and expertise in the characteristics of computers, peripheral devices, communications systems and hardware capabilities, programming languages, E.D.P. applications, systems analysis methodology, data management and retrieval techniques; or

Job Description
The Interface Specialist is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting and optimizing the enterprise-wise suite of Blood Bank and Laboratory application interfaces (including, but not limited to) WellSky Transfusion, APBC, ImmuLINK, and BloodTrack. Additionally, the role requires troubleshooting and support of each of the aforementioned systems and their underlying technical components, e.g. database and application servers. The role reports to the Director of Systems and Programming for Blood Bank and Laboratory Systems.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Monitoring system stability, maintaining security, and optimizing all Blood Bank interfaces (including but not limited to) WellSky Transfusion, ImmuLINK and BloodTrack.
- Troubleshooting all interface application errors
- Troubleshooting application, web and database servers
- Responsible for the daily monitoring and issue resolution of any interface or system related issues reported by end users; will require daily usage of the ESD Service Now application.
- Provide technical recommendations for the development of Blood Bank and Laboratory interfaces
- Reviewing and identifying any issues with HL7 messages/ segments
- Configuring alerting mechanisms to identify and report potential system issues
- Configuring new interface communication points and performing Rhapsody application upgrades
- Identifying and mitigating security risks within interfaced systems
- Performing application go-live support
- Authoring and maintaining all technical, system requirements, and end-user documentation for supported interface systems.
- Communicating with, presenting to and troubleshooting issues with end-users.
- This role is approximately 80% remote and up to 20% onsite. The selected candidate must be able to come into the office to perform required work within 48 hours. This may be subject to change

- Experience in troubleshooting and developing in Rhapsody Interface Engines
- Troubleshooting HL7 messages/ segments
- Experience in system documentation including requirements definition and mapping to require end-user functionality
- Excellent end user presentation skills. Able to communicate technical information to users in a non-technical manner.
- Excellent problem-solving skill in resolving issues with complex healthcare systems.
Years of Experience:
- Minimum of 5-years Healthcare Management Experience (Clinical. Technical or Administrative) required
