Role description:
We are currently seeking a Intermediate Municipal Engineer with great technical and communication skills and project management and coordination experience in projects related to road design and construction, utility relocations and public spaces, active transposition, traffic safety, and traffic studies to join the Waterloo office.
This team is a part of our Mobility Global Business Area. Role accountabilities:
As a part of our team, you will work on diverse projects across municipalities in the southern western Ontario, applying your technical expertise to deliver innovative and cost-effective infrastructure solutions. In this role you will lead and/or assist with analysis and design of municipal roads and infrastructures including preparing designs and technical documentation for linear municipal infrastructure projects, including watermain, sanitary sewer, and storm sewer systems and develop construction specifications and procedures. You will also evaluate and recommend appropriate solutions and materials.
This role focuses on preliminary and detailed design phases and includes providing support to contractors, project managers, and construction administration teams. You will review traffic and transportation studies associated with road rehabilitation, transportation, transit, and infrastructure projects, prepare technical reports to address road issues, prepare presentations, prepare client communications and lead small projects/tasks independently. You will review project documents prior to submittal, including checking for technical accuracy, assist with transportation group project management and business development. You will work with other engineering groups/disciplines and technical specialists to develop full design packages and prepare and maintain client communications and prepare presentations. Also, you will conduct preliminary and detailed design activities following municipal and provincial standards.
This person will coordinate with contractors, project managers, and construction administration teams to ensure seamless project delivery. Additionally you will perform design calculations, prepare technical drawings, and develop engineering specifications, assist with project proposals, cost estimates, and schedules, and liaise with clients, stakeholders, and regulatory agencies to address design and permitting requirements. You will ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and regulations, participate in field investigations, site reviews, and support construction phases as needed.
This candidate will have effective organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage concurrent priorities, strong analytical, problem solving, and decision-making skills and be task oriented with excellent interpersonal skills that focus on meeting customer requirements. You will have excellent oral and written communication skills, a commitment to excellence and high-quality work with a strong attention to detail and accuracy, and the ability to work independently as well as in diverse groups of project team members and clients.

The salary range for this position is $78,000 - $117,000. The base salary represents Arcadis' hiring range for this position. Actual salaries will vary and will be based on various factors, such as location, skills, experience, and qualification for the role.

Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor's University Degree in Civil or Transportation Engineering
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation is an asset
- Minimum of 10 years in the design of municipal linear infrastructure projects, including watermain, sanitary sewer, and storm sewer systems
- Familiarity with municipal and provincial standards in Ontario is an asset
- Proficiency with MicroStation, AutoCAD, and Civil 3D
