We are currently seeking a 5G NR System Simulation Engineer with experience in the design, development, and improvement of dynamic wireless system simulation software tools using machine learning/deep learning (ML/DL) artificial intelligence (AI) techniques. The ideal candidate will further have demonstrated skills in producing, validating, and analyzing simulation results in the context of 3GPP Radio Access Network (RAN) standardization activities.

Join our 3GPP RAN team and contribute to the development of the system-level simulation platform, developing new functionalities to model and evaluate advanced technology solutions targeting wireless systems for 5G and beyond. Technology areas include radio links at higher frequency ranges, new verticals for integrated applications such as eXtended Reality (XR), AI/ML model transfer, heterogeneous networks and vehicular deployments in licensed and unlicensed spectrum, energy savings, positioning, distributed connectivity, ultra-reliable and low latency connectivity, and sensing.

A reasonable estimate of the current salary range specific to New York/CA is $35.00 - $50.00 /hr and may include other forms of compensation components including benefits depending on the length of the assignment. Compensation for the role will depend on a number of factors, including a candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies and experience and may fall outside of the range shown.

The candidate will contribute to the 3GPP RAN team:
- By developing dynamic wireless system-level simulation platform and tools to support the evaluation and analysis of ML/DL AI based technology solutions for 5G radio and beyond.
- By carrying out physical layer and/or system-level design validation for evolution of 5G radio technologies and beyond - including evolutions of 3GPP New Radio (NR).
- By conducting evaluation, analysis, and development of innovative technology solutions for control and transfer of user data at L1/PHY, L2/MAC and L3/RRC protocol layers.
- By actively participating in the 3GPP standardization process through the preparation of contributions for future RAN Working Group (WG) meetings.
Qualifications/Requirements
- M.S., or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering (or similar / equivalent)
- 1 to 2 years of experience in the field of wireless communications
- Experience in system level (L1/PHY, L2/MAC) and/or link level (L1/PHY) simulations and proficiency with MATLAB
- Experience with GitHub/GitLab, NS-3, C/C++ and Python in a Linux environment is an advantage
- Experience with software defined networking and wireless testbed prototyping is an advantage
- Experience and/or knowledge of 3GPP standards, preferably also with standards processes including those related to RAN WG1, WG2, WG4 is an advantage
- Strong analytical, technical, innovative and leadership skills
- Ability to thrive in a dynamic, innovative, collaborative and team-oriented work environment
