Job Title: Interventional Radiology Specialist
Job Specialty: Interventional Radiology
Job Duration: 14 weeks
Shift: M-F (8-hour days) or M-F (4-10s) or M-F (3-12s) including call
Guaranteed Hours: 40.00 hours per week
Experience: 3 years Radiology experience (any/all modalities)
License: Texas Medical Radiologic Technologist
Certifications:
- ARRT Registered Technologist (Radiography)
Must-Have:
- Graduate of a formal diagnostic Radiology program
- Basic life support and medical terminology understanding
- Knowledge of Radiology physics and procedures
- Understanding of Radiology principles suitable for ages 0 to adulthood
Job Description:
- Perform exceptional quality routine and specialized interventional radiographic procedures for radiologist interpretation.
- Act as a liaison between patients, radiologists, and support team members.
- Integrate scientific knowledge, technical skills, patient interaction, and compassionate care.
- Maintain high accuracy in radiographic positioning and exposure technique.
- Prepare, administer, and document activities related to medications following state regulations and institution policy.
- Demonstrate understanding of human anatomy, physiology, pathology, and medical terminology.
- Use critical thinking, independent and professional judgment in all aspects of work.
- Engage in continuing education to enhance patient care, public education, knowledge, and technical competence.
- Responsible for patient care, appropriate documentation, quality control, and improvement.
- Provide training, education, and mentoring to students, technologists, nursing, residents, fellows, and staff.
- Maintain a safe and hazard-free environment; ensure adequate stock for continuous exam flow.
- Confirm patient identity and prepare patients for procedures appropriately.
- Assess factors that may contraindicate procedures (e.g., medication contraindications, patient reaction risk).
- Determine the type and dose of contrast agent to administer based on patient specifics.
- Anticipate and respond to patient needs throughout the entire encounter.
- Operate required equipment, including troubleshooting, automated processors, and PACS.
- Provide articulate, courteous, and supportive interactions with patients and staff.
- Maintain confidentiality and independently scan patients following established protocols.
- Exhibit bilingual skills if applicable.
This position requires excellent verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to work in a dynamic and collaborative healthcare environment.
