Job Title: Interventional Radiology Technologist
Job Specialty: Interventional Radiology
Job Duration: 13 weeks
Shift: 10-hour day shift, 5x8 hours
Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours per week
Experience:
- Minimum one year of imaging experience strongly preferred
- Experience in invasive cardiovascular technology preferred
- Cardiac diagnostic/interventional procedural experience preferred
License:
- Registered Technologist, Radiology, Vascular-Interventional Radiology, or Cardiovascular-Interventional Radiology - R.T. (R)(VI)(ARRT) or R.T. (R)(CV)(ARRT)
- Colorado Surgical Assistant License required upon hire unless performing surgical assistant duties within the scope of another active Colorado license, certification, or registration
- Department of Regulatory Agencies Surgical Assistant License (required for Colorado staff only)
Certifications:
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support by the American Heart Association required
- Basic Life Support by the American Heart Association required
Must-Have:
- High School Diploma or G.E.D. required
- Associate Degree strongly preferred
- Certification and registration in Radiography Tech required
Job Description:
- Provide quality patient care within the medical imaging department
- Perform high-quality images and exams while maintaining sensitivity to patient needs
- Follow standards of safe radiation practice
- Demonstrate leadership abilities and act as a role model for other technologists
- Assist physicians in performing specialized cardiovascular procedures, including diagnostic and interventional catheterization, pacemaker/defibrillator implantation, intra-aortic balloon pump operation, and electrophysiology studies
- Perform imaging procedures with a focus on safety and high-quality outcomes
- Practice radiation safety principles to reduce exposure
- Produce complete, accurate, and timely images
- Provide information and instruction to patients and families regarding procedures, responding to their needs
- Assist patients during exams and correctly position them
- Observe and document patient and equipment conditions, reporting unusual occurrences
- Facilitate smooth patient flow, scheduling, and equipment/resource utilization
- Communicate effectively with physicians, imaging personnel, students, and hospital staff
- Assist with patient transport as needed
- Perform IV starts and contrast administration as required
- As assigned by management, perform technologist duties of other registered modalities
- Provide on-call coverage outside standard hours as per department policy
- Input charges and required data for procedures and supplies used
- Complete the required hospital/medical imaging paperwork for each exam
- Prepare room, equipment, and exam materials for exams
- Maintain technical operation and notify service when necessary
- Notify supervisor of equipment problems and log service calls per department procedure
- Maintain a clean work area for employees and patients
- Conduct quality checks and equipment maintenance documentation per department procedure
- Engage in ongoing education and share information with staff
- Participate in department/hospital quality and process improvement initiatives
- Maintain compliance with state, federal, accreditation, and hospital regulations and standards
- Contribute to accreditation as requested
- Demonstrate effective time management and prioritize workload
- Adapt to changes in workload, patient needs, technologies, and policies
Languages:
- English proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing required
Additional Information:
- Floating may be required within a 60-mile radius or designated float zone
- Float assignments may include duties outside the original assignment according to policy
