General Responsibilities:
To perform a variety of complex specialized tasks eminent in operating radiographic equipment to perform vascular and neuroradiology angiographic and interventional procedures.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
1. Orients patient to surroundings. Explains nature of examination to patient as a means of alleviating anxiety and gaining patient cooperation.
2. Performs complex specialized vascular and interventional examinations according to applicable internal and external regulations. Demonstrates knowledge in the selection of proper radiographic factors and anatomical positioning and pathology. Demonstrates knowledge of proper doses and preparation of contrast media; assists physician in administering contrast media.
3. Demonstrates knowledge of all equipment in VIR area such as scanners, injectors, patient monitoring devices, suction equipment, flowmeters, multi-viewers, PACS, CRTs, digital camera, etc. Reports any equipment malfunction appropriately.
4. Prepares the room and equipment according to type of procedure to be performed and consistent with sterile technique.
5. Provides proper protection of patient and hospital personnel according to radiation and infection control standards. Selects the proper technical parameters for cross sectional imaging resulting in optimal image quality with the least radiation exposure.
6. Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Graduate from a Radiography program accredited by a mechanism acceptable to the American Registry
of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education
requirement.
