Inventory Optimization Manager
Irvine, CA (Hybrid)
Position Summary
Thales is looking for an Inventory Optimization Manager to be responsible for achieving annual inventory reduction targets by collaborating with other supply chain functions and external stakeholders. This position is responsible for optimizing $150M+ inventory, with additional stock that is carried at other IFE or vendor locations. This position will be located on-site at Irvine, California and is part of a global operations and supply chain network supporting airline customers and our AGS site.
In this position, you will monitor inventory levels across all locations and product lines, effectively collaborate within and outside operations and supply chain teams to find opportunities for inventory reduction, and increase inventory turns. You will also devise and manage an annual inventory reduction plan with the goal to strategically and organically reduce inventory capital cost across all product lines. The position will work with leadership on multiyear inventory burn down analysis, reserve calculations, and sometimes supporting financial audits as directed by leadership.
This position will require substantial cross-functional leadership. Strong analytical capabilities and above average communication & presentation skills are necessary as this role will require regular interaction and discussion with senior leadership globally.

What We Offer
The anticipated TTC range for this role is $139,874.00 - $186,288.50 USD Annual. The Company reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and offer additional benefits and other compensation, depending on circumstances not related to an applicant's status protected by local, state, or federal law.

Key Areas of Responsibility
- Ensure global achievement of both revenue and inventory goals, while collaborating with S&OP actors and other operations, finance, and supply chain functions; Lead the cross-functional monthly Inventory Management cadence, tracking progress on inventory reduction initiatives, and inventory levels by various programs and product lines; Identify how to efficiently tag inventory under various categories such as nominal, MOQ impact, surplus, excess, obsolete/strategic etc. with the goal to improve control and management of stock.
- Collaborate with EIM and other functions to implement process improvement strategies that will allow for easy inventory gate controls at both upstream processes such as purchasing, demand capture etc. as well as downstream processes such as managing inventory aging, scrap, obsolescence etc.
- Collaborate with logistics teams to implement right warehouse bin strategies and batch management process to ensure inventory aging can be easily tracked.
- Implement and Lead processes that will improve supply chain agility to quickly respond to sudden shift in demand / supply, mitigating risks of excess inventory; In collaboration with forecasting and planning teams, manage an annual inventory forecast and track progress on a weekly basis and mitigate high MOQ, long lead times from key suppliers.
- Aggregate large amounts of data, filter for importance and tie together in a context relevant story designed to drive action.
- KPI's ownership: Inventory, Gross Value, Days of Inventory On hand, Finished Good, and excess; S&OP process effectiveness; Design, analyze, and present KPI's to key stakeholders. Help stakeholders develop plans to meet and exceed KPI targets.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in operations, supply chain, industrial engineering, business or other related field with 8+ years' of related experience or Master's degree with 6+ years' of related experience.
- 2+ years' experience in inventory reduction or planning and forecasting function; Experience with large-scale change management projects.
- Capable of influencing and driving decisions across all levels; Able to be successful driving change in a highly matrixed environment; Leadership presence and the ability to lead a process in a highly matrixed environment; Demonstrated abilities to coach develop and mentor team members on inventory reduction methodologies.
- Experience leading Inventory optimization functional area (supply, demand and/or Finance); Experience developing and managing projects/programs; Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills; Strong analytical, organizational, decision making skills; Ability to interface with senior management and effectively represent global/functional positions in a high-pressure environment; Experience creating executive friendly presentations on complex business and supply chain topics and presenting to senior level audience.
- Proven ability to build and maintain productive cross-functional relationships, excellent communications and interpersonal skills; Passion to drive world-class excellence. Experience with business intelligence / planning, analytical tools. Ex: Power BI, SAP, Tableau or similar is a plus.
- Demonstrated ability to lead cross functionally without formal authority and will be able to successfully represent the global organization to help navigate sometimes-competing priorities.

Special Position Requirements
- Schedule: Core Business Hours, Monday - Friday with 9/80 option. May be required to work outside core business hours to meet business needs.
- Physical Environment: Manufacturing/production areas, warehouse.
- Physical Demands: Computer work - 50%, standing/walking - 50%, lifting - rarely and less than 50lbs.
