The Opportunity
Reporting to the Head of the Investment Strategy Office (ISO) and serving as an integral member of the department's leadership team, the Investment & Operations Director will 1. Work with colleagues to help clients meet or exceed their investment objectives and 2. Facilitate management of the ISO team and oversee the general operations of the department.
This is an outstanding opportunity for a strong people manager with investment and operational experience, and a proven track record of creative problem-solving and change management to join in a high-impact business unit at Cambridge Associates. The role is a hybrid position with expectations to spend about 50% of time in each functional area.

The Opportunity

Responsibilities
Investments
- Create and develop diversified portfolios to enable increased returns and lower volatility consistent with time horizon, risk tolerance, and income needs to client.
- Conduct analyses, prepare materials and direct clients on investment and financial issues; lead and coordinate ad hoc client requests.
- Work with and present directly to clients; develop relationships with clients, including Investment Committees, CIO/CFO of client institutions, outside advisors, etc.
- Select and evaluate investment managers for virtually all asset classes, including alternative assets such as venture capital, private equity, hedge funds, real estate, timberland, and oil & gas.
- Represent Cambridge Associates externally through marketing presentations, conferences, and other business development opportunities.
- Oversight of analyst/associate level client team members, which includes training and mentoring needs, performance reviews, and career development.
ISO Operations
- Support the Head of ISO and other key members of ISO's leadership team on financial planning, budgeting, staffing, and other resource priorities.
- Contribute to the development of ISO's goals and objectives as well as the overall management of the business unit.
- Maintain continuous lines of communication, keeping the Head of ISO informed of all critical issues and communicating essential information to inter-department teams, investment teams, practice operational teams, and other staff as necessary.
- Provide analytical and project management support to ISO's leadership team.
- Collaborate with other COO's involved in Global Investment Leadership Team and Executive Leadership Team on projects, communications, and strategic support.
Team Development
- Partner with ISO's Human Capital Business Partner (HCBP) on recruiting efforts, training opportunities, employee relations issues, etc.
- Serve as day to day sounding board for team members, using judgement to provide guidance and elevate feedback and thematic developments.
- Partner with the Head of ISO, HCBP and ISO leadership team to coordinate, collect feedback and aggregate individual and team performance information. May be asked to participate in department calibration meetings/talent reviews.
Qualifications
- BA / BS degree required; an MBA or CFA and/or CPA is preferred.
- Appropriate investment knowledge and experience, gained from work at an investment firm or large institutional investor, or a family office.
- Proven track record of success facilitating progressive organizational change.
- Excellent judgment and creative problem-solving skills including conflict resolution.
- Strong mentoring and coaching experience to a team with diverse levels of expertise.
- Self-reliant, good problem solver, results-oriented.
- Energetic, flexible, collaborative, and proactive; a team leader who can positively and productively impact both strategic and tactical initiatives.
- Exceptional written, verbal, interpersonal, and presentation skills and the ability to effectively interface with senior management, department leadership, and staff.
- Willingness to travel as needed.
- Must be eligible to work in the US without sponsorship or restriction now or in the future.
