A Brief Overview

Responsible for analyzing investment income data/reports to ensure financial results are accurate. Performs the reporting functions of investments, which include analysis of investment income data, internal management reporting, and preparation of investment disclosures for external reporting. Works on special projects as needed.

What you will do:
  • Performs detailed review and analysis of net investment income, realized gains and losses, allowances and impairments, and investment yield data for all invested assets (e.g., bonds, equities, mortgage loans, derivatives, alternative assets); analysis of results for variance in trends and against expected results; provides solutions to resolve issues. Navigates through substantial quantities of data/reports and/or statements to detect errors and gather financial information for reporting and/or make recommendations. Gathers information to accurately understand and summarize issues, evaluates risks and challenges, works collaboratively to propose recommendations, and works to implement approved changes.
  • Coordinates and summarizes investment information for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Works within Investment Accounting and with other functional areas to achieve efficient and effective accounting and reporting practices and procedures. Responds to requests from other functional areas on various inquiries.
  • Performs accounting functions and maintains and prepares month-end, quarter-end and annual reports for assigned areas, including ad hoc requests as needed. Ensures quality investment information is provided to clients in a timely manner.


Qualifications

Education and Experience

Required:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting/Finance or equivalent related work experience
  • 5+ years accounting or finance experience


Preferred:
  • Master's Degree or CPA
  • Progress towards FLMI or CFA Charter
  • Public accounting experience
  • Intermediate experience with GAAP accounting
  • Insurance/Reinsurance financial reporting experience


Skills and Abilities

Required:
  • Proficiency in MS Office 365 (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint) and advanced excel skills
  • Produces results - action-oriented and high energy with the ability to quickly adapt to new methods, work under tight deadlines and high-pressure conditions. Advanced ability to set goals and handle multiple tasks, clients, and projects simultaneously; Ability to appropriately balance priorities, deadlines, and deliverables
  • Advanced level of investigative, analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to balance detail with departmental goals/objectives
  • Ability to be flexible when needed, take initiative, and demonstrate accountability
  • Ability to work well within a team environment and participate in department/team projects
  • Ability to liaise with individuals across a wide variety of operational, functional, and technical disciplines
  • Intermediate knowledge of accounting/finance theory and application and financial reporting
  • Intermediate oral and written communication skills demonstrating ability to share and impart knowledge


Preferred:
  • Intermediate knowledge of investments and investment accounting
  • Experience with PFI/PAM investment accounting platform highly desired
  • Experience with PowerQuery, Tableau, Alteryx, or similar products is a plus

Compensation Range:
$76,100.00 - $108,050.00 Annual

Base pay varies depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience and market location. In addition, RGA provides an annual bonus plan that includes all roles and some positions are eligible for participation in our long-term equity incentive plan. RGA also maintains a full range of health, retirement, and other employee benefits.
