- Location: FinDev Canada headquarters is in downtown Montreal (5 Place Ville Marie, Montreal, QC) with the flexibility to work under a hybrid model (home/office).

- Base Salary: $235 000 - $265 000 plus 30% performance-based incentive

FinDev Canada is seeking an experienced Director in the Sustainable Infrastructure team who aspires to build and lead a dynamic team responsible for originating, structuring, and managing tailored financial solutions for private sector companies in the Sustainable Infrastructure sectors, which includes Energy, Transport, Water, and Digital infrastructure, contributing to the sustainable development of developing countries.
What You'll Be Doing:
- Plan, organize, direct, control, and evaluate the activities of the Sustainable Infrastructure team, ensuring alignment with FinDev Canada's strategic directions and policies.
- Deliver an annual volume of bankable and impactful transactions.
- Develop and manage relationships with partners and potential clients in emerging markets to grow a robust and diverse pipeline of impactful and bankable transactions.
- Develop and implement a strategy for the Sustainable Infrastructure sector.
- Hire, motivate, train, manage, and develop a high-performing and motivated team to continue the growth of this sector as part of FinDev Canada's overall portfolio.
- Work closely with internal subject matter expert teams, such as legal, risk management, environmental and social, development impact, and others, to maintain a holistic view of each investment while effectively leading and managing the client relationship.
- Maintain and enforce high standards of transaction underwriting. Ensure the same high standards are applied to transaction documentation to ensure workability and the accuracy of all financial details and compliance with FinDev Canada's policies and procedures. Apply judgment and interpretation to lead the internal approval process.
- Ensure the institution's policies and procedures are followed according to established guidelines and make recommendations for improvement.
- Network to develop business relations, promote the sale of loan, investment, and other banking services, and attract corporate and individual customers.
- Analyze, review, and approve or reject loan and credit applications in accordance with authorized limits.
- Monitor the processing of loan applications and credit investigations.
- Oversee the preparation of monthly financial and branch progress reports.
- Recruit personnel and identify their training needs.
What We Are Looking For
Must Haves:
- Master's Degree with a specialization in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or equivalent
- Minimum 15 years' experience in managing a portfolio of investments in development finance in the markets we serve (Latin America & Caribbean, Sub-Saharian Africa and Indo-Pacific)
- 5 or more years' experience in leading teams (leadership roles)
- Advanced experience in banking, legal and credit and in-depth knowledge of investment banking products including term loans, revolving loans, trade facilities, syndicated loans, equities, funds, bonds, grants, parallel loans and guarantees
- Advanced knowledge of structuring/restructuring in commercial lending and equity investments and/or loan portfolio management in developing markets
- Excellent networking and relationship management skills
- Excellent problem solving, people and conflict management, communication and presentation skills
- Fluently bilingual in both official languages English and French
Nice To Haves:
- 7 or more years of experience in managing a portfolio of investments in a development finance institution (DFI) or a multilateral development bank (MDB)
- Experience in developing markets in one or more of the following sectors: renewable energy, climate finance, infrastructure, transport, water/sanitation or digital infrastructure
