WHO we're looking for:

We are looking for an IP Transport Engineer who as part of our Wireless network team, will be responsible for being a key contributor as a subject matter expert in a multi-functional team of R&D, Systems engineering, and product validation to introduce products and solutions to Wireless Carrier.

Role and Responsibilities:
  • Design, implement, and optimize IP/MPLS networks to support high-availability transport services.
  • Configure and troubleshoot routing protocols such as BGP, OSPF, IS-IS, SR-IPv6 and MPLS-based solutions (L2VPN, L3VPN, RSVP-TE, Segment Routing) on multiple Platforms like Juniper, Ciena, Cisco and others.
  • Help write automation scripts using Python/Ansible/Shell.
  • Integrate network monitoring and management platforms (e.g., SNMP, NetFlow, Telemetry, SDN).
  • Conduct lab testing of new network solutions (QoS, Routing, failover), hardware, and software releases before production deployment, perform functional, performance, and stress testing, validate network changes through pre- and post-implementation testing to ensure minimal impact, and simulate network failures and recovery scenarios to assess resiliency and redundancy mechanisms.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including IP Core, Transport, and Security teams, to support network initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate network diagrams, configurations, and process documentation.

Required Experience and Education:

  • Minimum 5 years of IP Transport experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in EE/CS/TE is required. Master's degree is preferred.
  • Experience with Juniper Routers and Switches is Highly preferred.
  • Must have experience with IP Transport design and development in wireless networks.
  • Deep understanding of QoS mechanisms.
  • Familiarity with Netconf protocol, YANG models, and RESTful APIs for programmable network operations.
  • Must have Tier3 SME experience - Work under pressure to drive support teams to troubleshoot commercial NMS/EMS application issues, propose workarounds, work with R&D to provide the RCA (Root Cause Analysis) to the customer.
  • Fundamental understanding of Openstack/Kubernetes is preferred.
  • Understanding of virtualized solutions in telecom space.
  • Understanding of 3GPP systems: Core and RAN networks, architecture and protocols is preferred.
  • Must have hands-on experience with High Availability and redundancy systems.
  • Experience on system engineering projects to include technical requirements identification, technical solutions to address customer requirements with details to design /deploy / manage their infrastructure is preferred.
  • Must have troubleshooting experience using command-line tools and scripts.
  • Must have experience with SNMP and TNM protocols and NMS/OSS interfaces.
  • Must have experience with Unix/Linux, scripting tools and languages like python, shell, Ansible.

Requires considerable (90%+) work utilizing high visual acuity/detail, numeric/character distinction, and moderate hand/finger dexterity.

Performs work under time schedules and stress which are normally periodic or cyclical, including time sensitive deadlines, intellectual challenge, some language barriers, and project management deadlines. May require working additional time beyond normal schedule and periodic travel.
