Position Overview: The Systems Administrator is responsible for a broad range of technical duties associated with the implementation, maintenance, and support of over 500 computers and servers across 25+ locations. The role involves managing the company's IT infrastructure, including server operations, help desk support, backup systems, email administration, Active Directory, patch management, antivirus, storage, printing, telephony, and other computing services such as enterprise remote access. This position plays a crucial role in supporting Pillar Care Continuum's vision of providing high-quality, accessible services by ensuring a robust and reliable IT infrastructure that meets the needs of the organization and its clients.
Key Responsibilities:
Infrastructure and Network Management:
Install, configure, and manage VMware vSphere, ESXi, and Windows Server and desktop environments, including a hybrid Azure environment.
Manage LAN/WAN infrastructure using Meraki, including troubleshooting issues related to network connectivity, DHCP, DNS, authentication, VPN, and network segmentation.
Monitoring and Security:
Set up and maintain network/server monitoring applications. Proactively monitor server infrastructure and supported services to ensure high availability.
Manage internal and external network security, including firewalls and switches, perform necessary upgrades and backups, and conduct penetration testing.
Manage Sophos Antivirus and oversee the installation of antivirus clients on servers and desktops.
Active Directory, Microsoft 365, and Email Administration:
Administer Active Directory and Group Policies, including account management, login scripts, and policy object modifications.
Manage and troubleshoot Microsoft 365 administration, including user and license management.
Maintain and troubleshoot the email system using Microsoft Exchange Online, ensuring reliable communication services and managing security.
Backup and Recovery:
Provide backup support and implement new systems using Veeam, including configuring backup jobs, managing cloud backups, and handling data recovery.
End-User Support, Documentation, and Technology Deployment:
Install, configure, and maintain Windows desktop operating systems and applications. Provide end-user support, troubleshoot issues, and manage help desk requests.
Perform hardware upgrades and installations, diagnosing and troubleshooting issues with PCs, software, communication devices, and assistive technologies.
Create and maintain server documentation, procedures for routine tasks, and update the assets database.
Collaborate with external vendors and internal clients to resolve software or hardware issues and implement projects.
Provide remote support using SolarWinds Dameware Remote Everywhere, including travel and equipment transportation when necessary.
Deploy technology solutions to new facilities as required.
Other Responsibilities:
Perform other duties as directed by the Supervisor.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree or minimum of 5 years of experience in IT administrative technical roles.
Experience supporting Microsoft Windows servers, desktops, and server products, including patch management, application management using PDQ Deploy or Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (MECM), and vulnerability patching.
Proven experience in repairing and maintaining Windows/Intel-based PCs, as well as Apple iPads, iPhones, smartboards, and other school-related and assistive technologies.
Technical knowledge of and experience with server hardware, server software (Microsoft), virtualization (VMware), and Azure hybrid and cloud technologies.
In-depth knowledge of LAN/WAN infrastructure products, including VPN, network segmentation, and penetration testing.
Strong understanding of backups, storage systems and solutions, including cloud storage options.
Proficiency in Windows desktop and server operating systems, TCP/IP, DNS, WINS, and related applications.
Familiarity with Mobile Device Management for iPads, Androids, and other tablets.
Preferred technical certifications such as Cisco, Microsoft, A+, Network+, or equivalent.
Strong technical communication skills, both written and verbal.
Creative problem-solving skills with the ability to research new technologies and provide innovative solutions.
Ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced IT environment and adapt quickly to changes and new priorities.
Strong customer service skills, exceptional interpersonal skills, and a team-oriented mindset.
