REPORTS TO: IT MANAGER

POSITION STATUS: EXEMPT, NON-BARGAINING UNIT

The IT Analyst lll is a Senior technical position responsible for maintaining and protecting Versant Power's computer and telecommunication network. This involves the implementation of large-scale projects, creation of contigency plans in case of emergencies or disaster, maintiaing good communications with other teams internal and external to Versant Power. This candidate will need to demonstrate knowledge of both network and telecommunications concepts for terrestrial and wireless communications. They will be responsible for assisting in yearly audits, disaster recovery scenarios, and aiding with the on-call rotation. In addition, this position is responsible for supporting the corporate mission of the IT department.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Maintains a focus on the safety and security of staff and systems.
  • Provides support, maintenance, design and development of network communications and telecommunications systems.
  • Serve as liaison to teams outside the Information Systems department as well as contractors and vendors working for the interests of the company.
  • Organize network and telecommunications support across teams, business units, and vendor services to align network and telecommunications plans with required corporate, municipal, state, federal and other regulatory requirements.
  • Work closely with cybersecurity and legal/compliance teams to vet solutions and implement mitigations as required.
  • Work across business units to identify communications systems gaps and craft solutions to facilitate remediation.
  • Assists with reasonable familiarity and policy-based training to team members to align work with new or established policy and procedure standards.
  • Performs analysis of complex problems and provides assistance in relation to the identification of solutions which maintain communications systems functionality and avoid service disruption.
  • Work within and leverage the company ITSM solution to facilitate workflows and controls.
  • Assists in IT strategic planning and asset management efforts by identifying and vetting new technologies and providing recommendations related to their implementation and lifecycle support as required.
  • Assists in the preparation of documentation, project tracking, and management reporting to support department work plans.
  • Perform a key role in policy and procedure creation and implementation as it relates to network and telecommunication systems.
  • Responsible for disaster recovery planning and testing.
  • Provide reasonable cross coverage support for basic systems administration tasks.
  • Aid team with documentation and training materials generation.
  • Pursues knowledge and understanding of existing and emerging technology related to information systems used within the company, the electrical utility industry and in accordance with Maine state regulations.
  • Participate in after-hours support including weekends and holidays as part of an on-call rotation.

REQUIRED OR PREFERRED EDUCATION, CERTIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
  • Must have a Bachelor's degree with a preference towards a Masters's degree in IT. Telecommunications or an educational equivalent such as certificates and real world experience.
  • Over 5 years of experience in IT, Telecommunications or related field.
  • Experience with computer networks, Active Directory, Exchange, Microsoft OS, Linux, Microsoft Teams and ServiceNow preferred.
  • Experience with Cisco Unified Communications Systems, ITSM, ITIL, Mobile Device Management, MPUC and NERC/FERC preferred.
  • Ability to think critically and innovatively about the IT and Telecommunications solutions that can keep data safe while still allowing a business to flourish.
  • Must have a strong customer service ethic, and the ability to work independently or in teams, with minimal or no supervision.
  • Project Management experience is helpful.
  • Must possess excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Valid driver's license required and must be willing to travel for training, offsite work, and user group participation.
  • Position requires identity verification and seven-year criminal background check with update at least every seven years pursuant to NERC standards.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Stay current on Information Technology (IT) and telecommunication trends and news.
  • Work with team members as needed for larger projects.
  • Develop and mentor new co-workers within Versant.
  • Participate in meetings, presentations, and performance evaluations.
  • Act as a subject matter expert on various business teams.
  • Engage with relevant user groups.
  • Perform other duties assigned by IT Manager.
