JOB SUMMARY:

The Applications Specialist will work with the IT Director in implementation and development of IT related projects. The Applications Manager is expected to exercise continuous monitoring and maintenance of computer systems, and software applications in use at the casino. This position will also delegate duties, and oversee progress of the Application Specialists. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected. All duties are to be performed within the guidelines of the Saracen Casino Resort's policies and procedures, Internal Control Standards and objectives.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Supervises employees in the IT Department and responsible for the overall direction, coordination and evaluation of employees.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
  • Responsibilities include interviewing, makes recommendations for hiring, terminating and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems
  • Works with IT Director to identify departmental goals, coordinate projects and evaluate computer software and hardware that will enhance casino operations.
  • Interact and negotiate with vendors, outsourcers and contractors to secure system-related products and services.
  • Delegate and perform department assigned tasks and projects to complete priority jobs.
  • Coordinates activities and perform necessary computer updates for hardware and software, installation and maintenance with most computer systems in all departments.
  • Respond to inquiries concerning systems operation and network operation. Diagnoses and troubleshoot software, hardware, network, phone and wiring problems.
  • Provide orientation and training to end-users for all modified and new systems.
  • Works with IT Director to discuss system requirements, proposed changes, priorities, schedules and service standards.
  • Maintains internal controls to ensure the security and integrity of the IT assets of Saracen Casino Resort.
  • Supervises the training and skill development of employees, directly and indirectly, preparing them for additional responsibilities.
  • Duties, responsibilities, requirements and expectations pertaining to this job are subject to change as needed. Hours are determined by 24-hour schedule.


QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be a minimum of 21 years of age or older upon employment.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • BS degree in computer science or equivalent. Will substitute experience on a year for year basis.
  • Minimum of four years of specialized work experience in casino related computer systems and software preferred. Prior proven experience and success with systems analysis, design, implementation and testing.
  • Proficiency with MS SQL required.
  • Proficiency with MS Office tools required.
  • Experience in Windows networking environment including DNS, DHCP, WINS.
  • Experience with Active Directory Topology and Administration required.
  • Experience with Windows Group Policy desired.
  • Experience with email administration required; Microsoft Exchange 2003/2007 desired.
  • Previous customer service experience required.
  • Previous experience providing IT support required.
  • Previous experience working in a casino is preferred but not a requirement.
  • Microsoft MCP (MS Exchange) or MCSE certification desired.
  • Must be able to demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office.
  • Experience with InfoGenesis POS, IGT, Spherical VOIP, AS400 desired.
  • Must possess excellent communication skills.
  • Must have the ability to write routine correspondence and to speak effectively to the public, employees, customers and vendors.
  • Must have the ability to deal effectively and interact well with the customers, vendors and employees.
  • Must be resourceful, utilizing all resources that are available to resolve issues.
  • Must have the ability to resolve problems/conflicts in a diplomatic and tactful manner.
  • Must be able to work independently.
  • Must demonstrate good judgment.
  • Must be a team player with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Must be able to be approved for and maintain a valid gaming license.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English. Must be able to respond to visual and verbal cues.
  • Must be willing to work nights, weekends and holidays as required.
  • Employment is contingent upon a favorable outcome of a background investigation and drug screening.
