Job Summary
To serve as the lead administrator in assuring that the technology needs and goals for the school system are met.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Possess or be eligible for Technology Systems Specialist authorization
  • Experience with implementation issues regarding hardware, software, internet, online access, and local and wide-area networking
  • Knowledge of Server Operating Systems
  • Training and experience with technology integration and personnel training
  • A demonstrated ability to work effectively with people

Job Description
  • Serve as County Test Coordinator, performing all associated duties
  • Work with the technician team
  • Perform duties at various Clay County Schools sites which could include moving computers, hanging projectors/displays, pulling cable, assisting the technology integration specialists and any other duties/responsibilities
  • Works with other administrators to plan, purchase, and implement county technology budget
  • Directs and assists district technology staff for implementation, installation, and repair of county technology assets
  • Provides support and assistance to others (e.g. staff, administrators, students, vendors, community members, Board members) for the purpose of providing information and direction with technology information, applications, or procedures ensuring an effective work environment
  • Evaluates emerging hardware/software and their possible applications in Clay County Schools
  • Acts as network systems administrator including maintenance and upgrades to networking equipment in LAN/WAN environment
  • Manages data center and associated network clients
  • Creates and maintains technology standards, policies, and procedures (i.e. network security, virus protection, email, webpage, user account control, etc.)
  • Acts as point of contact with West Virginia Department of Education technology department
  • Evaluates effectiveness of current and proposed practices concerning technology use in Clay County Schools
  • Reviews, monitors, and facilitates negotiations with vendors and agencies to provide cost effective resources in terms of day-to-day demands and longer term goals and objectives
  • Maintains technology equipment and systems (e.g. servers, systems, telephone systems, alarms, software applications, network) for the purpose of ensuring that systems are functioning properly and effectively in support of district administrative and educational operations
  • Participates as a member of the leadership team for the purpose of providing and intaking information in support of operational decisions, particularly where technology issues are being considered
  • Oversees maintenance of county and school websites
  • Serves as point of contact between staff and administration regarding technology issues
  • Assists with yearly e-rate filings
  • Adheres to Employee Code of Conduct as outlined in West Virginia Board of Education Policy 5902
  • Performs other duties deemed appropriate and assigned by the superintendent and/or immediate supervisor

Compensation
Salary based on experience and education level per Clay County Board of Education Salary Schedule, plus competitive benefits package equal to approximately 35% of direct compensation.
