You will report to our Network Lead, and work closely with our internal key stakeholders in IT, Cyber, HR, Finance, as well as our lines of business (Concrete, Asphalt, Aggregate).

Working Conditions
The role has standard working conditions in an office environment with a regular work week from Monday to Friday and on-call availability. As some travel will be required to site locations a valid Driver's License is required, as well as an up-to-date Passport for occasional travel across the Canada/United States border.

BURNCO Rock ProductsLtd has a fantastic full-time opportunity for aNetwork Specialist based out of our corporate headquarters in Calgary, Alberta. You will report to our Network Lead, and work closely with our internal key stakeholders in IT, Cyber, HR, Finance, as well as our lines of business (Concrete, Asphalt, Aggregate).
What You Will Be Doing
How we see your role breaking down:
- Architecture, implementation, management and troubleshooting BURNCO network infrastructure on-premises, sites and in the cloud
- Designing redundant environments ensures high availability & security.
- Conduct regular maintenance, updates, and health checks of all network components.
- Provide on-call support on a rotational basis, resolving network issues efficiently.
- Lead and deliver multiple parallel IT network initiatives in a disciplined manner on time, on budget, within scope and quality specifications.
- Configuring and optimizing firewalls, routers, switches, VLANs, industrial DMZs, and VPNs for secure communication.
- Troubleshoot and fix issues related to Firewalls, Load balancer, IPS/IDS & Proxy, along with LAN, WAN, WLAN, SD-WAN issues.
- Hands-on experience with Cisco, Palo Alto, Fortinet, or equivalent networking and security devices.
- Configure changes, upgrade, whitelisting or blacklist URLs and Firewall rule addition etc.
- Previous track record of implementing permitter security such as Network Access Control, Firewall, DNS, Content Filtering, VPN and Remote Access
- Document proper capacity plans to ensure appropriate bandwidth, latency, and availability.
- Manage interdependence with other projects and operational activities.
- Cultivate a collaborative team environment.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure network strategies align with business objectives.
- Maintain excellent relationships with vendors and ensure BURNCO is receiving top quality service

Experience/Technical Skills/Knowledge
- 10+ years of experience in IT Network Infrastructure
- Strong proven experience delivering datacenter and field network telecom projects, with solid understanding of fiber optic, radio towers, RF, Wi-Fi, LAN, WAN, SD WAN, Cloud Networking, etc.
- Previous experience in senior network specialist role, showcasing hand-on technical experience and understanding desired
- Expert knowledge in Cisco Routing, Switching, and Data Center
- Expert knowledge in FortiGate SD-WAN solutions
- Strong knowledge of Palo Alto firewalls
- Experience with Azure cloud solutions
- Technical understanding of network services (routing, switching, secure remote access, IP-VPN solutions, SD-WAN solutions, virtualization)
Education/Certification/Designation
- Bachelor's, or Master's degree in relevant fields (Computer or Network or Electrical, Engineering).
- Networking certifications would be highly advantageous (CCIE or NSE7).
- ITIL v4 Foundation, and security certifications are nice to have.
