Summary

We are pleased to announce an IT Production Engineer Principal Special Duty opportunity with KCIT! This position is open to current internal KCIT employees as a Special Duty opportunity. Special Duties are only available to career service employees who have passed their initial probation period. This position will serve as a technical lead with duties that will include project work, support of the Enterprise SCCM production environment, responding to challenging endpoint automation requests, resolving technical escalations from level 1 CSS support staff, contributing to the modernization of the Endpoint Device management infrastructure, and collaborating with other KCIT teams and entities as appropriate.

Job Duties

  • Identifying and implementing device management solutions, complex software packaging and deployment.
  • Technical lead for ongoing projects related to management of supported endpoint devices
  • Lead automation planning to drive efficiency in endpoint device management
  • Support of Enterprise SCCM environment
  • Lead/support direction on adopting and managing new technologies related to endpoint mgt
  • Contributing to the modernization of the Endpoint Device management infrastructure

Experience, Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills

  • At least 5 years of demonstrated experience in a technical lead role.
  • At least 7 years of demonstrated experience providing workstation support, end user support, troubleshooting computer equipment, resolving end user applications, and troubleshooting network connectivity issues.
  • At least 7 years of demonstrated experience providing support for recent Microsoft Operating Systems and Microsoft Office Suites (E.g. Windows 7, 10, 11 & Office 2016, 2019, 365)
  • Highly skilled in identifying objectives and key results (OKRs), helping teams and organizations set clear, measurable goals that drive success.
  • Experience with taking the lead on setting the direction and ensuring alignment across various stakeholders, guiding initiatives toward tangible outcomes. Must be assertive and confident in making decisions and advocating for necessary changes or improvements to stay on track.
  • Proficient in requirements gathering, working closely with participants to understand needs and translate them into actionable plans. Their ability to balance leadership with clear communication ensures that projects remain focused, on target, and results driven.
  • Advanced knowledge of the SCCM environment, security, and stand-alone automation.
  • Experienced in addressing customer escalations, identifying customer needs, facilitating communications, and resolving escalations within the workstation space.
  • Experience participating in formal project teams and acting as technical liaison / asset for level 1 functions.
  • Skilled with diagnostic tools, logs, command line and scripting tools used to troubleshoot problems associated with network connectivity, and workstation hardware or software.
  • Skilled at addressing security issues and utilizing appropriate tools.
  • Experience supporting enterprise collaboration tools (Microsoft Teams, Zoom, etc.)
  • Experience working with an IT service management tools.
  • Experience with building/imaging computer hardware utilizing SCCM and Microsoft Endpoint Manager.
  • Experienced with application packaging and deployment methodologies through SCCM including troubleshooting processes.
  • Experienced with creation of application deployments, managing collections and other advanced functions within SCCM.
  • Extensive knowledge of local area networks and related systems, hardware and software installation and configuration, and systems integration, VPN network connectivity issues.
  • Extensive knowledge of level 1 cloud-based technologies such as OneDrive, SharePoint, etc.
  • Extensive experience troubleshooting, researching, and analyzing uncommon problems.
  • Experienced with mobile device management tools and best practices.
  • Ability to establish and maintain exceptional customer relationships.
  • Exceptionally positive attitude towards peers and leadership, learns from mistakes, seeks feedback, is open to criticism, and is easily coachable.
  • Ability to communicate orally or in writing; including the ability to communicate complex technical information to a non-technical audience.
  • Skill in handling multiple competing priorities.
  • Skilled in writing and in editing technical documentation.
  • Successful completion of criminal background check and fingerprinting (CJIS certification is required)
Desirable Qualifications
  • Understanding of ITIL (Information Technology Infrastructure Library) process
  • Microsoft Technology Expert Certifications or industry equivalent
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field

Supplemental Information
Hybrid Work

The work associated with this position will be performed through a combination of onsite work and telecommuting. Employees will have access to shared workspaces at various King County facilities.Employees must reside in Washington state and within a reasonable distance to their King County worksite to respond to workplace reporting requirements.

Work Schedule

The normal workweek for this position is Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Alternative work schedules may be considered. This position is FLSA Exempt and is not eligible for overtime pay
