IT Project Manager

The IT Project Manager is responsible for the planning, execution, and finalization of projects within the IT Department while adhering to deadlines and budget requirements. They will manage various IT projects using a combination of internal staff and consultants.

The IT Project Manager is accountable for defining project scope, goals, and deliverables with input from senior management in the IT department. This position will manage project timelines, coordinate resources, track project progress, solicit and communicate regular project updates, manage changes in project scope, and conduct project post mortems to identify successful and unsuccessful project elements. The IT Project Manager maintains professionalism and strict confidentiality in all client and firm matters.

The IT Project Manager can be located in our Charlotte, Chicago, Dallas, Los Angeles or Washington, D.C. office. Katten offers a hybrid work model, allowing the flexibility to work both on-site and remotely on a regular basis (KattenFlex). This position is required to be onsite 2-4 times per month.

  • Manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously. Facilitate the definition of scope, goals, resource requirements, tasks, and deliverables. Sets deadlines, assigns responsibilities, and constantly monitors and summarizes progress of project on a frequent basis for presentation to management and project team.
  • Present reports defining project progress, problems, and solutions. Implement and manage project changes and interventions to achieve project goals. Conduct project evaluations and perform assessment of project results.
  • Assemble and coordinate project staff. Lead and manage project teams made up of representatives from various groups who take the project from inception through completion.
  • Manage project budget and resource allocation. Plan and schedule project timelines. Track project deliverables using appropriate tools. Provide direction and support to project team.
  • Oversee and review outside consultant(s) for specific assignments, including the analysis of specific tasks performed for the firm. Review and approve consultant invoices relating to specific project requirements.
  • Keep abreast of current technology and systems through self-study and active membership in professional organizations, including software vendor user groups.

Supervisory Responsibilities
  • The supervisory responsibilities of this position will vary depending on the unique needs of each project. Projects may require indirect supervision of IT staff.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience. Minimum of 5 years of experience in a project management capacity, including all aspects of process development and execution.
  • Proven experience in managing IT projects such as software implementations, infrastructure upgrades, systems integrations, platform migrations, and software development.
  • Knowledge of both theoretical and practical aspects of project management tools and techniques. Experience with Agile and Waterfall project management methodologies is preferred, but not required.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills; customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Technically competent with various software programs, such as Microsoft Office Suite, project management tools, and enterprise applications.
  • Experience at working both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment is essential.
  • Strong understanding of IT infrastructure, software development, and IT service management.
  • Strong understanding of technology trends and their potential impact on the legal industry.
  • Work occasionally requires more than 37.5 hours (35 hours in NY) per week to perform the essential duties of the position.

For the New York Office, the annualized salary range for this position is $130,000 to $160,000. Actual pay will be adjusted based on experience and other job-related factors permitted by law.
