SUMMARY OF POSITION
Under the general supervision of the Director of IT, the IT Project Manager is responsible for planning, executing, and delivering IT projects according to strict deadlines and within budget. This includes acquiring resources and coordinating the efforts of team members and third-party contractors or consultants to deliver projects according to plan. The IT Project Manager will also define the project objectives, key performance indicators (KPI), and oversee quality control throughout its life cycle.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

- Develops, plans, and executes IT projects, ensuring scope, budget, and schedule adherence.
- Coordinates and leads project meetings with cross-functional teams, stakeholders, and external vendors.
- Manages project risks by identifying potential issues and developing mitigation strategies.
- Utilizes project management methodologies such as Agile and Waterfall to optimize workflows and processes.
- Provides detailed project reporting and analytics, ensuring clear insights into progress and performance.
- Oversees quality assurance, ensuring deliverables meet required standards and stakeholder expectations.
- Acts as the central point of communication for project status, changes, and issues.
- Facilitates change management processes, guiding IT teams in adapting to new technologies and processes.
- Prepares and manages project budgets, resource allocation, and scheduling.
- Develops project documentation, including project charters, plans, schedules, and status reports.
- Other duties as assigned.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
Any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the applicant with the knowledge, skills and abilities required to perform the job.
- Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Business Administration, Project Management, or a related field.
- Minimum of four (4) years of professional experience in managing, planning, administering, implementing, or delivering technology-based projects.
LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Certain licenses and certificates, if required, may be acquired on the job as agreed upon by the City and employee. Subject to change based on operational needs.
- Valid Washington State Driver's License.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred. If not certified, the incumbent will be required to obtain certification within one (1) year of hire.
