Summary:

The iSeries Development Manager will own the Software Development Life Cycle for the S2K ERP, S2K Mobile, and iSeries host system environment in North America. This individual will leverage excellent written and verbal communication to build cross-functional relationships and ensure that their priorities are aligned with our internal and external partners. They will also be responsible for managing a team, Azure DevOps toolset, system maintenance, and business relationships both within IT and the user community.

The iSeries Development Manager will have good working knowledge of ERP environments and software development and be able to independently own and support Arrowhead's ERP environment. They will have expert level knowledge of technical tools used to support the ERP area, ideally with direct experience with IBM iSeries and Vormittag Associates, Inc. S2K ERP and S2K Mobile.

Job responsibilities include managing of a team of technical individual contributors, engaging in employee development, managing projects for direct reports, and ensuring team priorities and focus are aligned with the company's overall strategic goals. They will also manage outside relationships with both software and hardware vendors and manage projects and engagement for those vendors. The ability to provide consistent updates to senior leadership on issues, projects, tasks and challenges is a must. Strong interpersonal, negotiation and communication skills are also required. This person will provide daily support to internal and external customers, gathering functional requirements, writing requirements, testing changes, both leading as well as executing when necessary. Experience with the IBM iSeries platform and experience with RPGLE and CL programming is a plus. Ability to leverage technical expertise and experience to review existing configurations, identify opportunities for improvement, and deliver solutions from inception through implementation.

Duties:
  • Set and align team priorities, goals, and objectives with those of Arrowhead, IT, and Functional Business Partners
  • Manage a team of internal employees as well as external contract resources, including resource planning, providing work direction, and personnel development
  • Play a key role in the strategic planning process as it relates to the ERP and WMS, ensuring alignment with overall corporate strategy
  • Responsible for ensuring full-time and augmented labor pool aligns with workload and delivery expectations
  • Partners internally with business users and leaders to understand the long-term needs of the business and ensure that project management resources are available when we need them
  • Support the acquisition of companies as Arrowhead continues to grow its portfolio of products and brands
  • Design and review technical requirements documentation and business requirements with partners and ensure that all functional and technical areas understand their responsibilities
  • Serve as liaison with external vendors to ensure both IBM i system support and application support
  • Coordinates testing, implementations, and upgrades for their areas of responsibility
  • Develop and manage audit processes to ensure that the environment is functioning as expected
  • Drive issue resolution within our published SLA's
  • Update and maintain Policy and Requirements Documents
  • Provides technical expertise and support as needed


Education and Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Systems, Business, or other related field or equivalent work experience. Typically requires 5 years of relevant technical or business work experience and 3-5 years of leadership experience including direct leadership of people, process, and projects. Requires experience/in-depth knowledge of business operations and systems requirements processes.

  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Experience with software/application development life cycle using standard methodologies such as Agile or Waterfall.
  • Previous technical and leadership experience in an ERP technical group, ideally in a high-volume environment.
  • Ability to thrive in ambiguity and build solutions with minimal managerial oversight
  • Knowledge of API end points, XML, HTTP, and other data interface formats in an ERP environment.
  • Experience with SOAP and REST API integrations
  • Experience with IBM i (iSeries, AS/400) system functionality and DB2 is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of the Order to Cash and Procure to Pay processes as it relates to the manufacturing and distribution industry.
  • Experience in ERP and WMS systems that support the industry, S2K, JD Edwards, Mapics XA preferred.
  • Good analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving skills to evaluate business problems and apply technical options to solve them.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Good time-management and organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of personal computers tools such as MS Office, Outlook, Teams.


Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; used hands to handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee may be required to sit for prolonged periods. Using proper lifting techniques, the employee must be able to lift up to 30 lbs. occasionally.
