Duties * You will serve as the Information Technology Specialist in the IT Network Section (C/10412), IT Operations Branch (C/1041), IT Division (C/104), Operations Department (C/10), Carderock Division, Naval Surface Warfare Center. * You will serve as a Network Engineer for the Research, Development, Test and Evaluation network. * You will serve as a lead Network Security Specialist for core network services/operations and operations/security of network equipment in a multi-site environment at the SECRET and TOP SECRET level. * You will assess new technologies to improve network operations and security of network; conducts feasibility studies and trade-off analysis; develops long-term plans for technology refresh and network upgrades. * You will develop long-range plans for network security systems that anticipate, identify, evaluate, and mitigate risks associated with network vulnerabilities. * You will represent the organization in department-wide work groups as technical expert on network solutions; responsible for implementing and integrating new IT technologies and developing new theories, concepts, principles, standards, and methods. * You will be responsible for daily operations of enterprise network, firewalls, and Wide Area Network (WAN) connections. * You will ensure reliability, confidentially, and accessibility to networks and data; develop policies and procedures to ensure information system reliability and accessibility. * You will ensure operational procedures are followed in accordance with Navy security and procedures; and lead team members in developing network operating procedures. * You will coordinate network operations team in deploying and upgrading network equipment; maintain configuration control and inventory management of network systems or diagrams; and provide monthly metrics on network performance. * You will develop policies and procedures to prevent against unauthorized access to systems, networks and data. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal. * This is a Cyberspace Workforce position, work role code 441 Network Operations Specialist, proficiency level Advanced, required to obtain and maintain qualifications in DoDM 8140.03 Cyber Workforce Qualification and Department of Navy policies. * Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing. Qualifications Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the NT-04 pay band (GS-11/12 Equivalent) in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: analyzing IT network requirements and developing technical solutions to complex network issues to ensure network infrastructure meets organizational requirements. Education This job does not have an education qualification requirement. Additional information This position is part of the Warfare Centers Personnel Demonstration Project. The NT-5 pay band encompasses positions equivalent to GS-13 and GS-14. The salary range shown above represents all of the positions within the band, including high grade positions. This is not a high-grade position; therefore, the salary may be limited to a GS-13 Step 10 (currently $156,755 .) This position is covered by the Department of Defense Priority Placement Program.
