BAE Systems in Rockville, MD is seeking a mid-level Systems Administrator to join the operations team that manages several enclaves. The primary duty of the position includes the full life-cycle (installation, configuration, hardening, patching, tuning, upgrading and archiving). Resourcefulness is a necessary skill in this role. The selected candidate will be able to diagnose and resolve problems quickly and have the ability to explain technical details to non-technical users. The goal of this position is to ensure that our technology infrastructure runs smoothly and efficiently.

Minimum education and years of related/relevant work experience required: Bachelor's Degree and at least two years of related/relevant work experience to include experience as a system administrator or an Associate's Degree and at least four years of related/relevant work experience to include experience as a system administrator or a High School Diploma and at least 6 years of experience as a system administrator.

Primary Duties include:
- Perform Windows Administration tasks
- Administer (Install, Configure, Patch, Upgrade) one or more enterprise level COTS applications
- Open, manage and resolve application issues with external application vendors
- Configure user access
- Maintain system stability
- Provide technical support for system users
- Monitoring system performance
- Remediate vulnerabilities and apply patches
- Manage data security
- Maintaining server architecture security
- Review audit logs
- Create and maintain technical documentation for environments including network diagrams, installation and configuration procedures, troubleshooting guidelines, and operational procedures
- Assist with Linux server administration
- Identify and implement process improvements for business functions
Required Skills and Education
Minimum education and years of related/relevant work experience required: Bachelor's Degree and at least two years of related/relevant work experience to include experience as a system administrator or an Associate's Degree and at least four years of related/relevant work experience to include experience as a system administrator or a High School Diploma and at least 6 years of experience as a system administrator.
Additional skills/experience required:
- Possess or must obtain an IAT Level II Certification (i.e. Security+ ) within 6 months of hire
- Proven work experience as a Systems Administration
- Detailed knowledge of Windows server setup, deployment, and maintenance
- Comfortable with reading log files and troubleshooting
- Comfortable with moderate to complex COTS application installation and maintenance
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent problem-solving skills
